One of the least Catholic and most pro-abortion members of Congress, Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, has been added to the official U.S. delegation to attend the installation of newly-elected Pope Francis.
Pelosi will join pro-abortion Vice President Joe Biden to attend the Inauguration Mass celebrating the Pontificate of His Holiness Pope Francis, which will take place on March 19.
The news comes as newwly-elected Pope Francis used his second-ever blessing as the head of the Catholic Church to bless a pregnant mother and her unborn child. Pope Francis, who as been hailed by pro-life advocates once called abortion a death sentence for unborn children, during a 2007 speech and likening opposition to abortion to opposition to the death penalty.
But the former House Speaker has repeatedly clashed with and criticized the Catholic Church on pro-life issues.
In 2011, Pelosi was upset that the nations Catholic bishops protested the Obama administration decision forcing insurance companies to cover birth control, contraception and drugs that could cause abortions. They are upset certain religious groups may not be exempt from providing the insurance, which would violate their moral and religious views.
Pelosi saidthe position is akin to having hospitals say to a woman, Im sorry you could die if you dont get an abortion, she told the Washington Post.
Those who dispute that characterization may not like the language, she said, but the truth is what I said. Im a devout Catholic and I honor my faith and love it . . . but they have this conscience thing that the Post said Pelosi insists put women at physical risk, although Catholic providers strongly disagree.
Pelosi also defended controversial remarks she made about a bill to prevent Obamacare from funding abortions, where she claimed Republicans want women to die on the floor.
For a moment, I want to get back to what was asked about the issue on the floor today that Mr. Hoyer address, Pelosi said. He made a point and I want to emphasize it. Under this bill, when the Republicans vote for this bill today, they will be voting to say that women can die on the floor and health care providers do not have to intervene if this bill is passed. Its just appalling.
She told the Post in a new interview, that she doesnt think the assessment went to far.
They would let women die on the floor, she said. They would! Again, whatever their intention is, this is the effect.
In 2010 Pelosi further ditched her Catholic credentials as she was unable to answer a reporters question about whether Jesus Christ should have had his right to life protected from conception.
Pelosi said she has an obligation to pursue public policy in keeping with the values of Jesus. Yet, asked by a CNS News reporter late last week whether Jesus has the right to life, Pelosi couldnt agree.
CNSNews asked: You said at a recent Catholic Community Conference that your favorite word was The Word, as in the word made flesh, and that we need to quote, give voice to what that means in terms of public policy that would be in keeping with the Word.
The reporter continued: So, when was the Word made flesh? Was it at the Annunciation, when Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Sprit, as the Creed says, or was it at the Nativity when he was born of the Virgin Mary? And when did the Word get the right to life?
Whenever it was, we bow our heads when we talk about it in church, and thats where Id like to talk about that, Pelosi said in response.
Pelosi has been repeatedly at odds with the Catholic Church, in which she claims membership, over the issue of abortion.
She once called on a Catholic saint to help her and her pro-abortion colleague pass a Senate health care bill that contains massive abortion funding. Not only did Pelosi upset pro-life Catholics in so doing, but she got the date wrong concerning the saint she mentioned.
Pelosi has claimed to be a good Catholic while advancing abortion at a rapid pace.
In a 2006 interview, Pelosi regretted that her family is very pro-life and would like it if I were not so vocally pro-choice. But, she proclaimed, To me it isnt even a question. God has given us a free will.
Also, she said the free will of women wanting abortions outweighs pro-life Catholic teachings.
And those comments followed on Pelosi thanking God that the Senate health care bill funds abortions.
If Pope Francis hits her with Holy Water will she melt while screaming "I'M MELTING I'M MELTING!!"??
A major photo op for the Obama Regime. Nothing more.
I hope he excommunicates her on sight.
May lightning strike.
It can’t be much of a church if outspoken baby killers such as Pelosi belong to it. She should have been excommunicated, along with the rancid Kennedy clan, long ago.
I wonder if she’ll be shameless enough to try to take communion.
If she does, I wonder if they’ll have the guts to tell her to pass on by.
This is happening at the local level. Who ever Princess Nanci’s priest is. That is if she even goes to Mass which I doubt very seriously. I could be very wrong and don’t want to be guilty of saying a lie but in my honest opinion if her giving the choice of going to Mass and getting a Botox treatment. Well. Need I say more?
sanfran-nan should think before she speaks regarding "free will" outweighing the teachings of the church.
I wonder if this Pope understands that bypassing this opportunity to challenge, face-to-face, American Catholic pols will forever mark him as morally irrelevant?
Yes she would. (Her attendance is a deliberate insult to Christians everywhere. ).
If she or that troll Biden seek and are offered communion, then we’ll see if all this show is any more than that.
Well said, sadly I know so many Catholics that are liberal,
Anything for a taxpayer funded vacation. Awful woman. I wish the Pope would have her tossed out on her ear.
yeah, but no doubt she and BiteMe harbor delusions that they
can present a face of “The New Catholicism” to the new Pope and thereby soften him up and make him more tolerant of their progressive point of view. Pelosi is in the wrong religion, but she obviously serves a useful idiot function in her capacity as a go-to New Catholic. What they don’t know, acknowledge or understand is that they’re now dealing with a representative of true and classic Catholicism, and not another installment of a “Pope from Europe”-—it’s “no accident” that he is from Argentina, which is home to an extraordinarily high %age of the world’s Catholics, and not one from Europe, which has basically given up its Christian identity. This kind of development in the spectrum of global Catholicism is something that will be very interesting to watch.
I think her head will swivel 360 degrees. In fact, she always appears to be in the throes of demonic possession.
That old broad is simply a ‘Convenient Catholic’. She has no soul and has used up all her ‘saved by grace’ cards.
From your lips to God’s ear-if she (or Biden) were publically rebuked or refused communion at this function, I would light every candle in the parish church and ask the priest to say a Mass in thanksgiving, although he would probably already have scheduled one when he saw the news...
Gee, what else can we do to insult the new Pope? Joe Biteme, Nancy Pelousy . . . . . . who else are we sending that espouses non-Catholic views?
And I wonder if she will tell the Pope that he want’s women to die on the floor.
You are not the only one who will be watching to see if Pelosi and Joe Bidet receive the Roman Catholic sacrament of Holy Communion in front of the whole world. If they do Pope Francis will lose a lot of respect.
American Catholics support and voted for Pelosi and Vice President Biden, they are the leading Catholic politicians in America and they represent the political party of the majority of Catholic voters.
The choice makes total sense.
I realize this would only happen in my dreams, but..pelosi and biden at the rail waiting for communion and the new Pope looks at them and says *not you*, and I’m not even catholic.
Salvation dependent on works: Catholics do not believe this, however, they do accept James 2:14-26 in believing that faith without works is suspect. Anyone can proclaim they have faith. Anyone. But faith without works is indeed dead. To say that you have faith in Christ and that it has not changed your commitment to charity is suspect, is it not?
Man-made traditions: so, should we just abandon Christmas (Christ-mass), Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween (all Hallo’s Eve)? Traditions have been a part of Christianity since the 1st Century. The Catholic mass is much the same as it was during Justin Martyr’s time, that is, 100-165 AD.
I’m sure pro-abortion John Kerry too (did you know he served in Viet Nam?). It would be a good opportunity to tell the pro-abortion Catholic politicians to make other plans for communion.
I'm not an expert, but I think that might have been his specialty in Argentina.
My dear you can quote James to protestants all day but all they read is those verse in Ephesians or Romans. Why do you think Martin Luther wanted so badly to toss the book of James into the fire?
Luther also did not accept 7 verses from the Old Testament: Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Ecclesiaticus, Baruch, Ester, and part of the Book of Daniel. He also wanted to delete James, Hebrews, Jude and Revelations. Why? Because he took it upon himself to determine that these books were not inspired. Funny that from the Dead Sea Scrolls we know that many Jews accepted these studied and read these verses. Jerome himself questioned some of these books, and asked the pope at that time, Damasus, what he thought. Damasus querried the pastors of churches and they came back with an answer of “yes”, these books should be included in any canonization.
Double bonus points for the new Pope if he excommunicates Nazi Pelosi in person.
