I just got an email from CDNN. They also have them in stock or at least are advertising them.

The prices are outrageous. Personally, I'd wait a few months until prices come down.

Of course, buying a less expensive pistol or hunting rifle goes a long way to obtaining a real M4 or real M16A3 when the SHTF.

Every time I go to the local Wal-Mart, I check their guns and ammo stock. Not that I can afford to buy any but just to see how the supply of each is going.

The last time I was in they almost had their stock of ammo back to normal, even had .223 but still no .22LR.

Their two small circular display cabinets are again full. I even thought I saw an AR but it turned out to be a .22LR look alike, tho it did look pretty darn good. Also was at a very reasonable price. I think we may not be too far from catching up on both ammo and guns.

I’m glad to see they’re coming back on the market, but talk about sticker shock!

I want something that fires a 300-whisper or 300-blackout.

Ditto with the CDNN email. Bushmaster Optics Ready for $1299. I believe that this was a $900 rifle pre-crazy, so at least things are beginning to return to normal.

You keep telling yourself that. Try finding some target grade 9mm.

I have noticed that AR mags are starting to show up in places. I got a couple 30 round ones for $25 each from Palmetto State Armoury, Appear to have shipped.

But I hit the top 30 ammo site this morning and there isn't diddly out there.

I see that stripped lowers are still going for 2 to 3 times for what they were before.

“STS-SX3-LOWER $349.99”

I have bought from Impact Guns and I would recommend them.

I also saw .223 ammo on Bulk Ammo yesterday, however it is generally 3 times more expensive than it was when Obama was re-elected.

It was 356$ for 1,000 rds at that time, and now its at about 918$ for 1,000.

I am not sure what would qualify as “target grade” 9mm ammo but I can find all I want just by going to my store room and opening a .50 ammo can.

Go for the .300 AAC Blackout chambering specifically.

Good article from American Rifleman: http://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/shades-of-gray/

Thx for that. It is always good to get a recommendation before buying.

I have been getting a wee bit of 5.56 from CheaperThanDirt...but it ain't cheap (I like the Federal XM855 green tip in bulk...it isn't pretty or cheap but it is reliable).

I have bought from CDNN many times and they are also reliable.

I once made an order which included a freebee. When the order arrived it was not included. I phoned their toll free number and the girl found my order in less than a minute and told me she would send it to me.

Sure enough it came in just a few days.

My stag arms model 8 just came in ~5 months ahead of schedule. Can't wait to pick it up. Got it for less than $1,300 direct from the manufacturer. Saw the same gun with a buy now price for $2,300 and another for $1,900 on gunbroker. :)

I don't think the threat has completely passed by any means but I do think we managed to buy a lot of time, more than the Australians had. They lost their guns in the space of a week and our government was certainly trying to emulate that but we were better prepared for the fight than the Aussies.

Now that we held the line, we need to start thinking about going on the offensive; for example, here in Ohio, we are legally limited to 30 round magazines or less. I think it's about time to change that basically for no other reason than a show of force to the gun grabbers. Push 'em back.

Both are nice, but where are you going to find ammo? A M10 variant might be a better option, since .308 (7.62) is a common hunting and military cartridge. If distance is what you are looking for, I'd go with .300 WinMag. It is a more common cartridge and the Army is converting M24's to .300 Win Mag, so potentially, it may be readily available when this ammo shortage ends.
