Looks like Leno knows he's out so he's going scorched earth here. LOL
"You know the whole legend of St. Patrick, right? St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland, and then they came into the United States and became NBC executives," Leno joked, as some in his studio audience gasped. "It's a fascinating story, a fascinating story.
On Tuesday, Leno joked:
"Did you hear about this? A 28-year-old woman from Serbia has a rare brain condition where she sees everything upside down. The good news? She's now been given a job at the White House as President Obama's economic adviser. Isn't that crazy? It's unbelievable. She sees everything upside down. In fact, she thinks NBC is at the top of the ratings."
"And also look for President Obama next month on the cover of The Economist. It's their annual April Fools issue."
Was it Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann?
Great stuff. Brian Williams probably had to be given sedatives when he heard about it.
I dunno, didn't you see him in Band Of Brothers ?
Leno is leaving the Tonite show?
They’re pushing him out.
And they’re moving The Tonight Show to NY.
They also don’t want to lose Fallon when his contract is up. He could conceivably move to another network or cable net and take them on during the “Tonight Show” slot.
But so what? There’s no ratings evidence Fallon can beat Leno.
It’s the same play they ran with Conan — fire Leno and give Conan the slot he demanded, to prevent Conan from taking the same slot at another network.
That didn’t work out so well for them last time; I don’t know why they think it will now. Kimmel might be making “in-roads” — but Leno still wins the time slot.
Who fires a proven ratings winner not once but twice?! Only NBC.
You are right!!! It was Michelle Bachmann.
I did see band of brothers, it was OK.
I don’t know what it is about Fallon that just rubs me the wrong way. I find him annoying, and his characters un-believable.
Absolutely boneheaded move on NBC’s part. Fallon’s audience is mostly stoned college students. He can occasionally be funny when he’s doing singing impressions, and not acting jittery and giggling at his own jokes. And he seems like a nice guy (he apologized and claimed he didn’t know about the insulting music cue for Michelle Bachmann; that was picked by the leader of his ridiculously overpraised band, the Roots). But I only see him when Craig Ferguson is in reruns because there’s no question of which one’s funnier. If he were an hour earlier, I’d only watch him if Kimmel and Conan were in reruns. And he’d be fourth choice if Fox or someone else snaps up Leno, which they would be idiots not to do.
Jimmy Fallon is no Johnny Carson. Carson started by hosting a daytime talk/game show and was so brilliant, he took over the Tonight Show, the realm of hosts like Steve Allen and Jack Paar.
Back in the golden age of TV, the network would’ve known where Fallon belongs: on daytime TV. He’s likeable without being overly talented, housewives think he’s adorable, and he likes to play silly games like Pictionary with celebrities and audience members and give away prizes to both the winners and losers. He’s the modern equivalent of Bob Barker or Art Linkletter, (host of “Houseparty,” which could also be the name of Fallon’s show). I would also say Bill Cullen, but he was much funnier than Jimmy Fallon.
For those too young to remember any of them, I’ll put it this way: Fallon is like a slightly more butch Ellen DeGeneres, or a slightly less butch Rosie O’Donnell. They all had some standup comedy background, but they’re not there because they’re comic geniuses, they’re there because they keep bored housewives from feeling lonely or going crazy when they’re alone with the kids all day.
saw his opening last night. I asked the spousal unit where those barbs at Obama have been for the last 5 or 6 years???
Wouldn’t it be a laugh if he keeps up nailing our “leaderless fear” and his ratings go sky high???
One can hope.
cause that worked so well with whatzisname, Conan
plus he enjoys frequenting strip clubs...
i like Conan...
He started making fun of “The Won.” And we all know “that’s raaaaacis!”
I liked Kimmel a lot more when he was teamed with Adam Carolla on The Man Show.
