Going through a village in Vietnam I noticed what I thought were deer hind quarters hanging. I casually mentioned that they have small deer here. My buddy said that those were dog hind quarters.

Could have been elk. Venison is darker than beef.

Ostrich is a LOT like beef as well. Someone could eat that and not know it was not beef.

The Apache did it all the time. They rode their horses into the ground, ate them, and stole more. Just one of the many reasons they were one of the World’s most effective guerrilla forces.

We raised Quarter Horses for 30 years. I don’t think I could carve one up and eat it, but in the 80’s we sold some at auction, knowing they went to slaughter. We now have an old brood mare, and I’d rather auction her than call the meat wagon or bury her. Recycling meat into dogfood doesn’t bother me. Walmart takes all their outdated deli food and turns it into dogfood, why can’t we process our nags and feed our dogs.

There are plenty of alternatives to meat protein. In fact it can be argued that it is a much better lifestyle.

Me? I would eat it. I don’t really find a difference. I also would eat a dog or a cat if the opportunity arises.

Have you ever killed a “meat” animal? Up close, not with a gun. I have slaughtered animals by cutting the throat with a large knife. If you can’t do it you certainly should not employ others to do your dirty work.

Poor polling choices. I have never eaten it but I would certainly give it a go.

Like the old saying goes, “if God didn’t want us to eat animals he would not have made them out of meat”.

Does the average, non-horse-owning or non-horse-caring-for person in today’s society have ANY clue as to what drugs horses are given to stay sound, what they are vaccinated with, what is used on their hooves to protect against bacterial and fungal infections in certain areas, what they are given to keep their intestinal tracts healthy or what medications they are dewormed with? Now who is the frigging Einstein that thinks horse slaughter for human consumption - or even Fido consumption - is healthy? Give it to the Europeans or the Japanese, like Mikey, they’ll eat ANYTHING......no thanks =/

No, I would not buy, the stuff is expensive.

Eat? Why not. Zebra is delicious so perhaps horse is as well.

Never! I’ve loved and enjoyed many horses. Would be like eating my dog or cat. So very sad.

Shortly after my wife’s horse kicked me in the nuts I suggested that if times got really tough we would eat her horse first.
