I just did a cross — and not too neatly. I did a loop for my husband and told him it was a shepherd’s crook. He believed me.

But next year, I’m going to look the directions up BEfore Palm Sunday and try one of the fancier designs.

We went to 6 PM Mass and could have taken many more palms, but I worked with what we had. Father had sent an eletter and told everyone to take exta palms for the grandparents. ‘Scuse me — we ARE the grandparents!

This is a tiny community and parish, we even share our priest with another even tinier one. We only had a small supply of palm fronds here, but that is likely because they come from non-endangered, common palm trees down at the coast-only a couple hundred miles-rather than being shipped from some far place in large quantities.

As I said, we attended the last Mass of the day, and they still had huge quantities of palm fronds. But, it also was the “teen” Mass, where teen agers take on most of the volunteer roles — ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, etc. They were stingy passing out the palms — one leaf per person.

In my dreams I would hope that they went down to the Hall after Mass and took lessons in weaving leftover palms after Mass, but that probably didn’t happen.

Probably not-I’ve noticed how stingy kids are with any handouts, anywhere, but can’t come up with a reason for it-I doubt they are hoarding palm fronds, prayer leaflets, school function and band recital programs, etc as future collectibles...

Oh, I think they were just trying to follow the rules. But, I know that if I had been at a morning Mass, with adult ushers, they would have pressed handsful of palms on me. The kids (some of whom were quite young) were very serious and very careful to give each person just one frond.

They are also stingy with the bulletins at the end of Mass. And they frequently quit early and hide the remaining bulletins. LOL.

OMG...all they have to do is stretch the fabric and look through it. I would be loudly fuming if they asked me to do that. Are rich yoga students that stupid?

I was thinking a calibrated flashlight at a set distance shining through the fabric onto a solar cell connected to a volt meter.

But yeah, having them put them on and bend over is better. At least for the skinny girls. ;-)

That’s a great one. It reminds me of the conumdrum posed as to why professors believe everything ever written about Julius Ceasar, Herod, or Attila the Hun and consider it HISTORY, but then want to teach the Bible and Jesus Christ as MYTHOLOGY!

My rose came out almost like a straight coil, but it was my first attempt. I like it anyway.

Congratulations! There are pictures of woven bowls with a rose attached to the side (very pretty), and whole rose arrangements on the Web!

I’m just a jeans and leggings person-don’t have any yoga pants, but if I did, I would be getting them at the discount store or on the internet-I can’t imagine paying that much for a pair of pants of any kind, even if they weren’t transparent...
