This is why we are CONVINCED that the “Patriot’s History Television” series will work, and work well. Go to www.rockinthewallstudios.com under “Projects: In Development” for the trailer. (Have a hankie ready)

I would normally have stayed at my friend’s house to drink some wine but instead I rushed home to watch the Bible. Didn’t want to miss it.

Maybe it has a ‘novelty’ attraction to the irreligious. It’s all new to THEM!

:)

My only issue with it is the flat out errors in the dramatization, some of which really change the meaning of the story.

For example, the “cast the first stone” story was show last night. In the Biblical account Jesus crouches down and starts writing in the sand and then says “he who is without sin can cast the first stone.” No one knows what he wrote in the sand, but there has been speculation that it may have been the names of the men in the mob who had slept with her.

In the version last night, Jesus rears back to toss then stone, thinks better of it, drops it, and then delivers the line. Brings a whole different meaning to the story.

They had a marathon on yesterday, and I flipped to it around 4:00. By 9:00, I had the Missus thoroughly involved and to the point of tears at some points.

This is good TV right here!

We’re watching it now. LOVE the scene with Matthew at the Temple. Made tears well up in my eyes.

I remember when Bill Maher made the mistake of inviting Charlton Heston onto his show. All four other guests were leftist liberals, full of themselves and blathering on and on about nothing, while Heston just sat there, quietly.

Finally, after realizing that Heston had said nothing so far, halfway through the show, Maher sneeringly suggested that Heston talk about gun control, not as Heston, “But as Moses would have done it.”

And that is exactly what Heston did. Wow.

Standing up, with a booming stage voice, Heston did an improv that would knock your socks off. Other than his voice, you could have heard a pin drop in the audience, or among the other panelists. It was riveting.

Finally he finished and sat down. Dead silence, for at least 10 seconds, before Maher snapped out of it, and said something unimportant to break the spell.

The rest of the show was just the others exchanging some very mild pleasantries, obviously rattled down to their shoes, and totally, absolutely intimidated by Heston.

If anyone in that audience was religious, I bet they suddenly decided that they had better go to church more.

It’s entertaining and thats about it.
Tired saw: Jesus was European stereotype (BeeGees lokking dude) and misguided ethnic speculations about Samson in the OT. I liked that risk espescially opening a nod to the lost tribes in Africa.
I doubt that they will go into the writings of St Paul and the Revelations of John.
It’s a lot of stuff to cover, but the end result when you do “made for TV” gives you exactly what they’ve bargained for...

Chase: "S'up? What'cha watchin? Some TV show?"
Miles: "Yeah! Some show on 'History Channel', really cool! Just tuned it in. Called 'bibble' or somethin'. 'Bout some old dudes."

I think they will cover the Book of Acts.

Well, they certainly sanitized the basis for the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Something that did not comport with the Biblical story...

Jesus did not breath life into the dead Lazarus by going into the grave and then breathing on him.

According to the Gospel of John, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.”

Lazarus came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

Also, I did know that it was Nicodemus who challenged Jesus about paying taxes to Caesar...

Yep, no mention of the mob wanting to rape the Angels disguised as men.

And speaking of the Angels... how the heck did they become Ninjas?

Patriot’s History Television Series:
http://www.rockinthewallstudios.com/new_indevelopment.php

Oh my, you are right, that had the tears flowing. I hope and pray this gets made and is a smash hit. We’ve got to do this when it comes out, as mentioned in the post above:

Jason Mittell, a media professor at Vermont’s Middlebury College, said: “It’s a mainstream subculture that often gets ignored. There’s a whole alternative media sphere of Christian blogs and media and broadcasting that can be utilised to generate buzz.”
