St. Malachy, an Irish archbishop born in 1094, reportedly was summoned to Rome by Pope Innocent II. While there, tradition holds that he had a vision in which details were revealed to him about all of the future popes. After he wrote the vision and gave it to the Pope, his document was filed in the Catholic Church archives and was left forgotten until it was discovered by Arnold de Wyon, a Benedictine historian, in 1590. In 1595, de Wyon published St. Malachy's vision in his Lignum Vitae.

Oh, I’m sure the prophecy can be interpreted to cover Pope Francis (or Pope George ;-) the Argentine. Why, there are lots of people named Pedro in Argentina, lots!

I have 3 kids. All boys. The first 2 were born on the same day. 3 years apart. A good friend and her sister were born on the same day 2 years apart. WHAT ARE THE ODDS!? Oh about 1 in 365...unless its leap year.

Is it a miracle, or just the natural operation of statistics? Ooooh, now I have a headache!

Don’t worry. “(the Great Monarch who is to rule Europe after the collapse of Communism)” is a gloss. Nothing says the great ruler will be a king, or even Catholic.

You foolishly store up earthly treasures, and yet this very night your life will be asked of you.

i.e.
Don’t waste your time deciding the meaning of the latest end times interpretation.

Is Pope Francis the final pope?

I heard someone the other day speculate that, because of the punctuation in the prophecy, there could be a gap. So you get Benedict, then a gap of uncertain length, then Petro Romano.

This was from a dispensationalist, of course.

I don’t blame people who just want everything to END...

It’s coming sooner than you think.

I don't have a date in mind. I just get up every day and do what has to be done.

Probability two people were both born on the same specific date: (1/365)^2

Malachy’s prophecy is considered by the church to be a hoax.

The only legitimate prophecies are those found in the Holy Bible. God's written word.

Does it really matter who the pope is? When that time comes, it will not be of any concern. Do you know Christ as your personal savior? That is all that will matter.

And do you believe that God's grace through the Jesus's sacrifice on the cross is sufficient for the forgiveness of your sins? Do you accept God's grace, and not through your own works?

When a new pope is elected—this “prophecy” will be done—just as the infamous Cornstalk Curse on every president elected with a “0” in the year would die in office. Ronald Reagan beat that one (but he was shot and didn’t die). No one talks about that one anymore.
