I was never abused in the current environment at all.
But I was “privileged” to sit on juries that walked in with preconceived verdicts without hearing any evidence.
I could be wrong..but I don’t think that is SUPPOSED o be how it works.

No, of course not, and the only person that took away this fellows right to a fair trial was himself.

Most everyone is da*n sure this guy is guilty, We don’t even really know what the exact charges are.
Exoneration in these cases are almost unheard of.
If there is one thing I have learned in life, is “there is no percentage in arguing with a follow with a gun when you are unarmed.
Comply and tell it to a judge.
How do you exonerate a fellow that shot himself after shooting at others?
Should we delve into what demons caused it at public expense?
Maybe he was scared.
We know he broke capitol law.
He was served with four counts of aggravated sexual assault upon a child.
That was repeated ad infinitum by reporters during the live footage.
Add to that the obvious charges of fleeing and eluding and assault upon an officer with a gun.
I agree with you..to a degree.
But like I said in my original post to this thread, we really don’t know what drama may have been occurring. No doubt the guy was a thug.
“Tell it to the judge” or any jury about sexual assault of a child and you will end up in prison. True or not.
I like the fact that you have the confidence that you do in our legal system.
Like I said...I have sat on juries that were not fair in the least. And judges are elected here. They like to have a good record of putting “bad guys” in prison. Fair or not.
It's all we got.
What would you suggest?
Number one, I don’t trust reporters trying to make a story.
Number two, the guy may be guilty as sin...but I don’t know.
Accusation is all it takes.
Fleeing and shooting at officers..I can’t argue with. But there could be many reasons.
But I really don’t know any details. Maybe more will come out and I will change my position.
But I’m sure not going to jump in and form an opinion after a couple of hours that the “event” happened.
What would I suggest?

Thank you for the update, Dysart. I actually saw the Balch Springs police cheif’s news brief this a.m. that answered a lot of questions. And read an article that said he had a prior involving burglary/shooting at his victim.
Salamander & mylife, I appreciate the civil tone of our discussion last night.
I believe you both said he took the decision to not face trial in his own hands. Became his own judge and jury, as it were. You were correct.
That being said..I still have a strong distrust of the media as they report in “real time”. Case is point, Sandyhook.
I am also still of the opinion that this particular allegation is a sure fire prison sentence..guilty or not. It is, as it should be, a heinous crime.
