Man Charged For Hunting In A Walmart Parking Lot

BURRELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – An Indiana County man is facing several charges, after wildlife officials say he went deer hunting in a Walmart parking lot.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission says 40-year-old Arcangelo Bianco Jr., fired several rounds from a handgun at a 10-point white-tailed deer from within the Burrell Township store’s parking lot, and then bagged the animal near Old William Penn Highway.

The alleged shooting happened last November, while Bianco was shopping at the store, and then saw the buck in the parking lot.

According to charging documents, the deer ran around a corner of the store, and Bianco hopped out of his truck, gun in hand, and “began firing multiple rounds at the deer.”

Bianco faces a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment, as well as several hunting violations, including hunting without a license, shooting on or across highways and unlawful killing or taking of big game.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 1.

Sounds like the Ruidoso Wal-Mart parking lot, except we have giant elk that just stand there in front of your truck.

Hope they throw the book at the idiot.

Calling what he did “hunting” in the title should be a crime in itself.

One stop shopping. Shop, buy ammo, and stock the freezer all at the same time.

LOL! I live in Indiana County. We have a huge deer population, and the two weeks after Thanksgiving is deer hunting season. In fact, the Monday after Thanksgiving, the schools are closed for the opening of deer season.

We take our deer hunting seriously around here! :-))

Was what he did smart? No

Was anyone harmed (other than the deer)? No

Do we want people doing this? Not really. Just hand him a “stupid ass” card and tell that he could be facing prison time if he had hit anyone.

I need to add that an asphalt parking lot is a great place to hunt deer. They don’t have good footing and have a hard time getting away.

Whole businesses, industries, towns and municipalities shut down here in PA when Deer Hunting Season starts. When I had my Family Farm Business for 22yrs, I could count on 50-60% of the guys taking 5-6 days off.

I just adjusted my business model to accommodate them, although I don’t hunt or eat deer meat. I didn’t have any qualms whatsoever, since they used it for their own families’ tables and/or donated some to local food banks.

Absolutely. Clear sight lines, too.

Field dress 'em right there, throw the guts in a blue shopping cart and load up. Don't forget to run inside for some jerky spices and to replenish your ammo.

I hunt with a pistol sometimes, but not while jumping out of my truck in a parking lot on private property without a license, he is the definition of an idiot imho.

I’ve had buck fever before, but come on.

Now had he just ran it down with his truck, that might be a different story... :)

About 20 years ago I was watching 20/20 or 60 minutes or something. They were doing a story on game wardens in some southeastern state placing a decoy buck a hundred feet or so off a highway to nab people who would stop their vehicles and shoot it.

But one couple in a somewhat jacked up 4x4 at night did them one better. They ran it down with their pickup.

10-point white-tailed deer

Every man has his breaking point and a 10 point buck amounts to an enormous temptation.

“We get feral pigs here in East Texas.”

I’d prefer the elk. More damage to the car, but honest.

Now, the black bear by the dumpster in the morning (a consistent summer issue, probably once a week because some people are sloppy with the garbage) while wearing flip flops and boxers have made me pack a GLOCK 10 to take out the trash. Scared the heck out of me a couple times.

I read about one of those DNR decoys. THe thing had been shot so many times that there were visible holes and chunks missing. One leg was a 2X4 nd it still was getting shot by road hunters.

Great name! I’ve seen 5-6 per pick-up truck, in a dozen trucks, come in to the local butcher’s for dressing-out, but never that many at once. But I’m not a hunter, so I’ve never been around a collection point like that.

Amazing how plentiful and tame they’ve become, in some areas. My Family Farm in SW PA is gone (auction next month) and I’m now living in a condo in East York, so the days of seeing the small herds moving thru, are over. I’ll miss the wildlife.
