'Walking Dead' season finale (spoiler alert)
MSN ^ | 3/29/13 | Don Kaye

Series star Andrew Lincoln told Rolling Stone that "27 people die" in what he described as a "crazy season finale," which makes it safe to say that the war everyone has been expecting will break out in a big way. And we fully expect to see some major characters among those 27 casualties -- after all, this is "The Walking Dead," where even top billing does not keep you safe.

Well, we already know Daryl will die, I wonder who else.

How do we "already know" that Daryl will die. I have read the graphic novel, and (trying not to spoil, but) not many people leave the prison. However, Daryl, and Merle, were not in the graphic novel, so I don't think we can say anything about those two. Well, except for Merle.

I think Daryl is such a fan favorite that the producers would be asking for a fan riot if they got rid of him.

Yup. Must have asked for a raise.

I stopped watching when they started killing off all of the main characters.

Agreed. Too much like a soap opera. How many episodes were they stuck at that farm? The whole season?

They’ve really only killed 3 main characters. Lots of regulars, but in a show like this you have to, otherwise you lose the threat.

Ya. Lol. I know.

Sort like a story that I wrote when I was in Junior High — the story was running long so I killed everyone off. Everyone dead — “The End.”

Not like that at all. More like why in any war movie the 3rd act starts with one of the main characters getting killed. If a main source of the tension of your story is death you have to make sure the audience “remembers” that periodically, especially right before the big “final showdown” for a single story, or periodically in an ongoing series. It also gives you an opportunity for new main characters, handy for an ongoing series since you will always run out of stories to tell with a given set of characters.

I think one of the writers or producers stated that the Walking Dead is dangerous to an actor or a walker because they do not last long enough to be employed. I think the only thing that could kill off Darryl is if Norman asked for more money.

Only question I have is will we see the Alexandria, Virginia safe zone next season or will it build up to it for season 5?

Take a good look. Babies are hard to keep cute. Even in real life they go through the terrible twos.

Considering that the safe zone doesn’t become introduced into the comics until issue 67ish (or about 5 1/2 years) I think it’s going to be a while. Though honestly they’re wrapping up the prison in one year and it took nearly 2 in the comics maybe it’ll be faster. But it’ll have to be at least a season of travel to get there. If they go that way.
