Olympus Has Fallen movie thoughts?

Posted on 03/30/2013 8:27:59 PM PDT by stuck_in_new_orleans

To those who have seen it, your thoughts? Tried to see it tonight and it was sold out. (Please no posts from the tired, lame "what's a movie?" fools).

Shouldn't that be Reggie perched on his crotch?

I was entertained. My 15 year old daughter thought it was good the President wasn't like Obama or the movie would have ended badly with us surrendering when the first toenail was stubbed.

That was the impression I got from the previews, another 'die hard'.

Why would the WH be named 'Olympus', do they think the President is a god?

I am tired of fight scenes that you just hear the action and don't see squat.)

True, like the one in Skywalker-why bother?

Not as bad as the pompous, "I don't own a television" crowd.

“Olympus Has Fallen” is from Revelation Chapter of the Bible, referring to the fall of the Roman Empire

Major hot button with that issue. They spend millions of dollars on high resolution cameras and production values, and then make the fight scenes, or pretty much any action scene so blurry that you can't watch it.

I also want to find and beat the snot out of whoever invented the "shaky hand" camera technique that was intended to convey action and put you right in the middle of it. Same issue. That technique detracted SO badly from Private Ryan.

I'm thinking an enterprising young geek could make a fortune off of a software filter that stopped all that shaky, high speed nonsense. That, and a product that takes the #@$%@#%@# adds off of the lower left corner of the TV AFTER the commercial break has ended. I'd pay real money for that capability.

Re: Fight scenes in movies. See link below, James Bond and Donald Grant in a fight to the death. Low tech perhaps, but convincing. You know from the beginning that it will be a fight to the finish.

That is why I love what Marvel has been doing.

Thor: Climactic fight scene middle of the desert town during the day.

Ironman 2: Black Widow beats up a bunch of bad guys in white corridors while wearing that smoking hot skin tight black costume.

Tony Stark fights Viktor in the middle of the LeManns race during daylight.

Avengers: The entire final battle Middle of NYC in the afternoon.

I saw it. I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure it was going to be as good as it was. The only thing was that they used the North Koreans instead of the Muslims which is more likely, but other than that a really great movie.

Great job supporting those who are against everything you supposedly stand for. Way to line Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd’s ( and by extension Dear Leader’s) pocket.

Corny, non-stop action. You say that like it’s a bad thing.
