Snakeskin Found in Bag of Potpourri, Snake Believed to Be on the Loose
NBC New York ^ | Tuesday, Apr 2, 2013 | Roseanne Colletti

Posted on 04/02/2013 10:10:51 PM PDT by EinNYC

A woman who found a snakeskin in a bag of potpourri believes the snake escaped in her Long Island home and is now hoping to the creature out and capture it.

Natalie Malik tells NBC 4 New York she bought the bag of potpourri on Saturday and poured it into a bowl that was on a table in her Levittown home.

She was sleeping in the next room with her two dogs when they were all startled by the sound of something falling.

When Malik went to investigate, she found pieces of potpourri in the floor, and an 8-inch long snakeskin in the bowl of potpourri.

"It was still fresh," she said.

Now she believes the snake is loose in her house, and is trying to lure it out with crickets, a mouse and glue traps.

"I just want to tell people to 'check your potpourri,'" she said.

I would hope it's not some poisonous species and that it gets caught and removed soon.

Lizards YES (I have several species of tiny lizards in beautiful terraria).

Snakes NO. NO. NO.

Forget potpourri.

Carefully check those decorative branches you get at Pier 1.

He slithers around a while checkin’ stuff out and then goes back where the laptop cooler fan blows warm air across his back.

He’ll stay there for hours, getting toasty and watchin’ TV.

No, it’s Jake the ‘teenage’ Kahl Albino Boa.

The prodigal son isn’t doing very well.

The physical toll of being lost, loose, hungry, thirsty and too cold was apparently too much for his fragile system.

He’s been moved to a special ‘hospital’ enclosure where he’s getting special care.

I hope for the best but expect the worst.

Jake has been a great comfort to me.

Unlike Alice, he has no desire to take off and be a ‘real snake’.

He’s very happy just hanging out with “mom” while I’m working on the computer.

Well, what does one expect?

The very definition of “Potpourri” is:

Little bits of this and that”

Eye of newt, toe of frog
wool of bat and tongue of dog
And a snakeskin or two.

I’m sorry to hear that. I prayed for his return and am happy to pray for his recovery.

You certainly must have your hands full of critical critter care. I can’t imagine how challenging it would be to administer to a snake.

Thank you for the prayers.

Unfortunately his cleverness and wanderlust bit him in the butt.

Right now we’re going through the usual going-off-feed that Ball Pythons do during this, their breeding season so it’s not helping that he’s not eating.

He’s in raised temperatures to boost his immune system and gets shots of antibiotics.
He puts up with it very well.
He may even vaguely understand it’s to help him...at least I hope.

That’s the best I can do for him except to love him for however long he’s with me.

At least he got to know a life outside of a cramped breeding tub.

It’s been a really lousy year, as far as losing loved ones goes.

Sadly, sorrow is the price of love.

>>Sadly, sorrow is the price of love.<<

No truer words were ever spoken.

And that holds even if your *kids* are of the two-legged variety.

Spring is around the corner and with it, hope.

The problem with that career is when ‘they’ outlaw swallowing the head of pythons because it is demeaning to pythons, the lady does not have a whole lot of career choices.

LL comes to mind.

Oh yes....well Monica L is ‘affiliated with Clinton’.

Linda L. is ‘affiliated with ‘Harry Reems’ from the 70’s.

She created a whole new ‘method’ of ‘Lewinsky’s’.

I think her main ‘talent’ could be described as sword swallower. ( I am getting ‘close’ here) <: <:
