Chosun TV is reporting that South Korean military have lost contact with two North Korean submarines that left their naval base in Hwanghae Province a few days ago.

There has obviously been a lot of changes between last week and now and South Korean military officials suggested that while maneuvers in February were nothing meaningful, now it is provocation.

The two 'torpedo' subs are small 130-ton, 30-meter, 10-man machines that can stay submerged for three-to-four days.

Can they make it to the Aleutian Islands in 4 days?

I assure you that we have satellites following these little boats. We can also probably hear their conversations onbaord.

NK is cruising for a bruising

I hop that SK doesn’t limit itself to a symbolic response like when its cruiser was sank or ‘proportinal’ response like when the island was shelled.

How many torpedoes do these boats carry? they need not go far to cause a great deal of problems for a trading nation like South Korea. If they can launch even primitive rockets they could menace a wide range of targets—what about our base in Okinawa? Pusan Harbor? Just going missing is a threat. What ever they do—it will happen in the next 48 hours.
