What do you want America to look like in 30-50 years?
The Conservative Beacon ^ | Conservative Beacon

Posted on 04/04/2013 7:03:57 PM PDT by Conservative Beacon

I have not posted here in a while, but I wanted to reach out to my fellow freepers for your views on a very important topic: the future of America.

We know our current situation and its continued decline should the course not be altered. I am interested in what America will look like in 30-50 years should we reverse our current course.

So I am curious as to what that America looks like to you. What is your dream, best case scenario 30-50 year vision of America, all facets-overall culture, education, media, government, etc?

It depends. Our society has always gone back and forth with conservative and liberal stuff. The pendalum constantly goes back and forth. The under 30’s might be our only hope. I am 43 so in 30-50 years, I will be 73-93 if I live that long....Maybe 73 but doubt 93...if it gets any worse, I hope not to be honest.

I think 40 years (two generations) is a minimum that it will take to reverse course and to ensure that we aren’t going to revert... we will have continuing medical advances and the population will continue to average up in age... whether it’s a better place or not will be dependent on whether or not we regain our moral compass. Over the short term (10-15 years) we could go “road warrior” and live like animals if the monetary system collapses.

I have no hope that America will reverse course. Obama wants tens of millions of Americans to die, and they will. After that, the Mexicans, Muslims, Russians, Red Chinese, North Koreans, etc., will flood in and loot the place. After that, America will be a Communist-Muslim dung heap.

It isn't America we should care about...it is the Freedom of those who seek it (freedom).

Obama and his butt buddies have already obliterated America.

The war is now about liberty and freedom and God.

We must never give up...never give in!

I would hope that we would have the technology of Buck Rogers,
the family structure and values of the 1950s, drive muscle cars and motorcycles similar to those from the 1960s, and the fashion style of the 1930’s .....well, everything except for the bathing suits from that time. Well, it would be nice if that were the case.

I’d like it to look like the pre-Kenyan America. However, I believe that it will look like Mexico does now. Americans will be sneaking across the border into Mexico and points south to escape the tyrannical U.S. government, poverty and drug cartels running this country. Mexico will be the only country in this hemisphere where you’ll be able to get decent health care.

2. Gays back in the closet
3. Churches filled to the brim on Sundays
4. Households full of children
5. Homeschooling is the norm
6. Strong national security & defense
7. A truly free market - no more crony capitalism
8. A strong dollar

Basically, full restoration of the Constitution & faith in Almighty God. I pray it happens.

The productive power of robots is going to turn society on its head, all over the world.

The changes that were wrought by the microcomputer and internet revolutions of the 70s, 80s and 90s will look like a Sunday-school picnic next to what's coming when robot labor becomes ubiquitous.

The left is going to take that power and use it to "liberate" about 99% of society from the need to do any productive work at all.

That situation won't last long, however. Idle hands are the devil's playground, and that aphorism will play out on steroids in the spiritually destitute world of the future.

I agree that it will take at least two generations to reverse the current course and that many of us probably will not be around. But we still need a goal or some vision to work towards for future generations.

To me, it is all about the education system and the media. Those have to be at the top of the priority list.

This is a very good discussion about an important topic.

I am sick of hearing about how the country will not exist in 50 years or that freedom will have been eradicated.

I want to discuss how we are going to prevent that and then what the restored America will look like so that we devote ourselves to realizing that vision, or at least moving us towards achieving it.

Please keep the responses coming.

In perspective, 30 years ago was 1983, and 50 years ago was 1963.

In April of 1983, April 4 – First flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger. April 18 – The U.S. Embassy bombing in Beirut which killed 63 people.

In April of 1963, April 7 – Yugoslavia is proclaimed to be a socialist republic, and Josip Broz Tito is named President for Life. April 10 – The U.S. nuclear submarine Thresher sinks 220 miles (350 km) east of Cape Cod; all 129 crewmen die.

I did my bit. My family is grown and gone and is raising families of their own. I don't expect they'll knuckle under to slavery or communism with the lessons I taught.

And I still get called in to teach a few special courses. ;)

It belongs to them from here on out. I did the best I could and taught the best I knew.

Johnny, I am likely older than you, and I expect to still be around.

That said, I expect to see the Republic fully restored...the Republic that our Founders gave us. I also expect to see safeguards added that make it a lot more difficult for the commie-leftist-dems to do again what has been done in the last 100 years or so...and especially beginning with FDR. No more of that kind of crap. I also expect to have a hand in the restoration...in whatever manner might be required to achieve it.

See my tag line...

Read history.
We will become smaller nations based on geography and their assets. When Boulder Dam goes, Vegas is gone overnight, LA in 10 days. Desert regions will suffer, water will be gold.
Only those who have known depredations will fight for freedom, as it was at our founding. God will destroy the cities so we know He is God, nothing new here.

My guess: In 30-50 years, most of our growing glut of seniors will be gone, but not forgotten. They will be remembered by their survivors as a generation who could be counted on to show up at the polls in great numbers to protect their Social Security and Medicare entitlements, at the expense of everyone younger.

But, as their old and sickly protoplasm gradually putrefies and expires, their children and grandchildren will have grown increasingly weary of big government. We will no longer be an aging society and there will be a renewal of the American spirit.

Once this crop of grasping seniors is gone, this will become a great country again.

Our society has always gone back and forth with conservative and liberal stuff. The pendalum constantly goes back and forth. The under 30’s might be our only hope.

I don't know what you mean by that, immigration has mostly led us left since the 1840s and the immigration of the last 40 years is so large and overwhelmingly and never ending that it ends any chance of cycles.

The under 30s spell the end of America, not it's hope.

Johnny, I too have done my part and handed over...my legacy is in my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. Yet I am no dreamer. I believe we will see things change. I believe we will see the tide turn, the Republic restored. It will be because of what we are doing, and what our children are supporting. It will be the real legacy we leave to our grandchildren, our great grandchildren.

My great, great, great grandfather was born in 1774...two years before the Declaration...his father was in Boston for the Original Tea Party.

We are survivors. We are a part of what made America great. We are a part of it now...and will be into the future, including the not so far future.

God will remove me from this scene in His time. And I will go, yielding willing to His Will. ‘Til then, I will give all to do His Will as He leads me regarding my part in the future of this, His country.

This country does not, never did, nor never will belong to Barack Hussein Obama.

Lord, to think what we COULD have been, if Reagan types had continued to be elected into office ...we’d be the Shining City on the Hill — diseases wiped out, democracy flourishing across the globe, cures for cancer found, nations lifted out of poverty, an outstanding standard of living here in the US. . . and better standards of living elsewhere, allowing people from around the world to REMAIN in their own countries, where they truly are most happy and allowed to live in their most authentic way.

My second choice would be a post apocalyptic place — either better or for worse .. . whatever the outcome, we will be set back a century or two. I pray that those who survive are GOOD people who will continue to advance liberty, freedom and our Constitution. I am working VERY hard to increase our chances for survival ...but it’s getting to be more of a struggle . . .

And I don’t even want to comment on what I believe we WILL look like in 30-50 years.

The 60 and under crowd will most certainly will not be the saving generations, but they can plant the seeds.

The reversal has to start with us. I am 30. If my generation and current conservatives and patriots do not start making inroads in the education system and gaining more influence in the media, then it will never turn around we will setence future generations “to a thousand years of darkness.”

I have to disagree with you. The younger generations are going to be footing the bill for all of the senior handouts (Social Security, Medicare) that will be doled out to a population of seniors that is currently growing in their number and in their avarice.

I think that when they're done paying for this huge glut of seniors, the younger generation will be desperately longing to exchange what will be their stifling high tax rates for the fresh air of some more liberty in their lives. Until this crop of seniors is gone, it's going to continue to be "gimme, gimme, gimme" and "pay me 'til I tell you to stop."

The sooner that this current generation of seniors is gone, the sooner that America can become America again.
