Feral Pigs Going Hog-Wild in US

Feral pigs are becoming a wild problem in the United States.

The wild hogs can now be found in three-fourths of U.S. states — and their populations are growing in many areas — and are estimated to cause $1.5 billion in damages each year, the Associated Press reports. There are currently more than 5 million wild hogs in the United States, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

By all accounts, the animals are quite intelligent. They also sport razor-sharp tusks and can be aggressive toward people and pets.

Where are they in New Mexico? Last I heard, the only place they had feral hogs (NOT Javelina, but they live there, too) was in the boot heel. You could hunt them if you were willing to brave the drug smugglers and illegal immigrants that are swarming over the border down there.

For a real LOL viewing, look up “Aporkalypse Now”

For a special kind of amusement, show it to Libtards.

There was a special on the History Channel about a year ago. This is major sport in north central Texas and, yes, they do have mighty large barbecues with the hogs.

There's big turnout in some of these Texas towns and the proceeds go to finance the next hog hunting expedition.

Win-win for all involved, except the hogs.

The town gets to host a great barbecue. The hunters raise money for their next hog hunting expedition. The local farmers, ranchers and gardeners get to check some of the damage which the wild hogs can do to their vegetation, which is considerable.

I read an article about wild pigs on the Oregon Fish and Game website. It said that you have to kill 70% of the population annually just to keep them in check. That’s how fast they breed!

I hear they’re “not good eatin’”.

I eat 'em just fine. Most of the problems with 'gamey taste' is how the product is handled.

They have probably entered the food supply long ago.

What’s not to like: bacon, loin, ribs and bar-b-que.

In the future, you will have to petition the Gov’t to allow a Gov’t hunter to take care of the problem quietly.

Must not upset the sheeple.

A sportsman’s conversation group used to host a weekend long “Wild Hog Jamboree” at a camp behind the Monroe Gas Station at Loop Rd. and the Trail in the Big Cypress.

Hog rib plates with palmetto cabbage slaw, alligator wrestling, greased pole climbing, swamp buggy rides, turkey shoot, bands and a bounty of drunk Crackers and Rednecks.

Great fun for teenager away from their parents for a weekend!

Now that gives me an idea. Howz about we take a few truck loads of wild hogs up to Dearborn, Michigan and turn ‘em loose.

Where are they in New Mexico?

There are a bunch in the Nogal area up to where Bonito lake used to be, near Ruidoso. Those are the only ones I know of for certain, but I rather imagine that there are plenty of other places.

Just tell them that wild hogs have been in the US for all of history. I’d bet there are very few acres that didn’t have wild hog crap on them in history.
