A teenage lesbian with a Mexican father and an African-American mother is hoping to win the Miss Carolina crown when she competes at the contest this summer.
Analouisa Valencia, 19, is hoping to rattle the pageant stereotypes by becoming the first lesbian in her conservative home state to take the crown, before heading to the national competition.
She has already scored the title in her home town of Lyman and believes it was a victory for equality. Now she wants to take the issues center stage in the state competition in July.
'I want to show the judges who I really am,' she told CNN. 'I want to show them how passionate I am about my platform, how passionate I am for being an advocate for equality.'
Valencia, who has a long-time girlfriend, came out in the ninth grade to mixed responses from her parents. 'My mom at first said, "Well, I don’t support it, but I love you so I’ll support you." She's OK with it now, but it's been a couple of years,' she told Advocate.

Miss SC hasn't updated their site but last year's pageant had about 48 contestants. No idea what her talent is but she better be ready as there are lifelong pageant pros out there at the state and national level. Just being a lesbian isn't enough to win, nor is it a talent.

Back in the mid-20th century, homosexuals stayed in the closet and lived very sheltered lives. Now that they’re “out,” I can see why so many people wanted them “in.” It’s just a very disturbing lifestyle.
Leftists want us to accept them and to feel for them. When will they ever “feel” for us and our want to not have to ever see this sort of shit on the streets or on our televisions. I’m just tired of the constant bombardment of it all.
