LINCOLN, IL (NBC) - Former history teacher, Paul Gleason, spends every day writing letters to U.S. service members.
He started his correspondence when a former student joined the Army. 48 years later, he's still writing to those fighting for our country.
"In the letter writing, you also become bonded to these people," Gleason said. "In many cases, they become your sons and your daughters, even though possibly, you will have never met them."
Gleason is more than 10,000 letters in and still keeping a log of those he has written to.
I joined the SA adopting a soldier when they are serving overseas. The program only requires writing a letter at least once a week (and other stuff), but letter-writing was hard I had to recruit a partner as a team.
