SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) A 32-year-old woman was shot to death with a BB rifle Thursday morning at a Santa Ana home.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 11 a.m. in the 1000 block of S. Austin Street, according to Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Martha Socorro Marin was discovered unconscious with a small puncture wound in her upper chest.
The victim was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead.
A 34-year-old man at the scene, reportedly Marins live-in boyfriend, said he accidentally shot the victim.
Bertagna said police are still investigating.
At this point, were trying to find out if this was an accident or an intentional act, he said.
Marin and her boyfriend have two children.
Based on the fact that most of these half wit journalists don’t know what a magazine is, we can’t assume they know what a BB gun is.
Or that they would know that all air rifles are not BB guns.
Why even debate this when it is highly unlikely we are even getting decent, factual information?
They have ones that fire a pellet upwards of 1000 fps.
Thanks for that link!
So that means it was an air-powered AK-47, correct?
I have to wonder if this was not really an “air rifle” as opposed to a “BB Gun”. Look it up on You Tube, there are some pretty impressive hog kills using an air rifle. I have no doubt that the same weapon could take down a human. Thanks.
My new handgun pellet gun will kill a squirrel.
When my cousin was a kid he was running with his BB gun, tripped and accidentally shot himself through his temple. The BB bounced around several time and ended up in his speech center. They did brain surgery and got the BB. He couldn’t speak for about 3 days but made a complete recovery.
For about 6 months they kept a chunk of his skull in a bone bank in case there was swelling. A chunk of skin went over the void. He would run up to his mom and grunt and his scalp would bubble out about 3 inches.
I don’t know how that woman survived that kid.
Sounds like a planned attempt to register or outlaw air guns, too. Pretty soon "firearms" may include rocks and slingshots...
Give it a rest, retards!
Most can fire either a bb or a pellet.
You can get higher end ones that fire 1200-1400 fps. Varmit tipped ammo in .177 or .22.
They aren’t a Daisy Red Rider, that’s for damn sure. Price tags aren’t anywhere near that either.
You do realize that's a redundancy, right?
Would that make the victim "very" dead? As opposed to kinda dead?
I don't get your point
Good point.
Lethal can also mean gravely destructive, but I get where you are coming from.
The media thinks every gun is an AK-47. Just making a subtle funny.
There is a very fascinating story about the Lewis & Clark expedition using those air guns to impress the Indians not to try any ideas endangering the expedition.
Likely not a BB gun; more likely a pellet pistol or rifle. The pellet arms can approach the .22 for penetration. Pellet arms are no toys.
Ouch. Beats the crap out of the Daisy “Red Rider” BB Gun I had as a little kid. I suspect it might be a HV pellet, as you suggested, rather than a BB. Might have nicked the aorta, and she bled-out.
