Rush fans can relax. The band is now officially in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Canadian rockers were welcomed into the musical fraternity at Thursday’s 28th annual induction ceremony by the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins. At the beginning of the Nokia Theatre event, the audience was already administering a standing ovation to the group.

“We’ve been saying for a long time that this wasn’t a big deal,” drummer-lyricist Neil Peart told the crowd, most of whom came out to specifically support the band. “It turns out, it kind of is.” …

Rush Limbaugh was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Good for him.

That's good news, indeed. Rush deserves to be in the Hall of Fame because of the great rock and roll tunes he plays for his theme song and his "updates."

Probably my favorite band. I’m glad they are in. I love all three as musicians and find Peart’s lyrics thought provoking (he’s a bi Ayn Rand fan).

La Villa Strangiato
YYZ
Red Barchetta
Tom Sawyer
Spirit of Radio
The Trees
Subdivisions
Red Sector A
Big Money
Bravado

On and on...I don’t like all their songs, but there are few I actively dislike.

and Grand Funk.

I get the impression, it’s how much a band will “donate” to the hall of fame that will get them inducted.

It's a different "Hall of Fame," but it's something that's worth mentioning...

Geddy Lee is a HUGE baseball fan, and over the year, in his travels, he's managed to put together an incredible baseball collectable collection, including baseball cards.

He donated what may be the greatest collection of Negro League baseball cards to the "Negro League Hall of Fame" in Kansas City. It was a very cool thing of him to do.

Skynyrd made the RR hall of fame back in 2006.

It appears that I was mistaken... Geddy didn’t donate baseball cards (though it’s still possible). The really big thing he did was donate a collection of autographed baseballs that he purchased specifically to donate to the museum. Geddy is a really awesome human being.

I’d rather listen to Limbo than to Rush.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gone slumming. But not for the first and last time.

Too bad they had to...

1. Demand Rush Limbaugh stop playing their song.

2. Geddy talked glowingly about meeting Fatboy Michael Moore

3. Athiest Neil Peart tried to lecture GOP “it is impossible to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and be a Republican,” as well as saying his Ayn Rand influence is done.

..all in 2012 just to get into the R&R Hall of Fame

Is that all? Then it was so worth it, wasn’t it. Never mind Peart saying that the HOF “kind of is” a big deal.

It occurred to me that the song they started out their set with was the Temple of Sirinx. Which from rush 2112 was a very large and well pronounced slap at the music industry that few recognized. I would call that a nod to Ayn Rand from behind the curtain. Let them that have ears to hear is what I said.

And I thought that Alex Lifesons “non speech” at the beginning while somewhat childish, really trivialized the award and the other awardees... and was another jab at the system that demanded these tributes you mentioned before they could be recognized.

I still hold them in respect.
