Yes my Niece married a boy who has a PHD in physics from the University of Chicago and also a PHD in Cosmology.

While they do respect Einstein, they think Hawking is just an average physicist.

I agree completely. He did NOT cover himself with glory there. That was a real, honest mistake.

How a man with the nickname “Bull” could get taken in so easily by a red cape is still amazing to consider.

And then, to get caught up in that typhoon the way he did is still astonishing to me. That was a mess.

Halsey too, was far from perfect. But early on in the war, when things hung in the balance, he shined.

It is almost as if he simply didn’t know how to fight with an overwhelming advantage, as if he were more effective and comfortable in a barroom brawl.

Heh, maybe he was.

lol...I meant “honest to GOODNESS” mistake.

Not “honest”. When he went charging away from the San Bernardino Straits at full speed, he had been warned against doing just that.

MLK - a father of food stamps class and urban decay.

Hillary Clinton - “world’s smartest woman” who couldn’t accomplish a thing starting from her own bedroom.

Bill Gates - a “czar of technology” who actually never developed any technology.

Mike Gorbachev - a dumb commie who carelessly wrecked his commie-land and now pretending he is not a commie and did it on purpose.

Jimmy Page
Robert Plant
John Bonham
John Paul Jones

Led Zeppelin stole (as in gave no credit to) the foundations of their most memorable songs from others. Notably Spirit - an opening act who wrote the song which provided Jimmy with the riff (note for note) for Stairway to Heaven.

Whereas all The Who’s music was profoundly original. Which settles the classic “which group was better” question once and for all - for me anyway.

The invasion of Okinawa began on April 1, 1945. Truman became President on April 12. There were no additional island invasions between April 12 and when the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The President that went with the island-hopping strategy was FDR.

I have always admired what Hawking was able to do with such a crippled body, but I read something he said that disgusted me.

I didn’t really know much about him, and kind of generally admired him, but when I read that, his views on God, well. It wasn’t just that he didn’t believe in God, it was his contempt for the concept of God.

Napolean overrated?

Have you actually read his incredible martial feats?

Read what his foes said about him

They sure as hell did not consider him overrated

Try Ho or Che or Fidel

You could make a case Patton was overrated far easier than Napolean
Damn...the man has his own level...like a Spinal Tap 11 for his era

Henry IV.....God love him....overrated......Cour d’leon too...

I appreciate Jefferson’s ability with the written word, but he was a weasel.

Smart guy, but sounds like a typical liberal in many respects.

Madison sounded like a wimp to me. But a pretty bright guy.

Of them all, Washington was The Man. He was far from the smartest, but he had all the other characteristics to make up for it.

Martha Raye entertained troops and was critical of the US media in their Leftist reporting of the war. She was also a great spokesman for a denture adhesive.

When she was young she was known for the beauty of her legs as well as her big mouth.

LOL I wonder if they still give that test in public school where you have to make noises and do all kinds of funny things and then you get to the final item which says, “Ignore all previous instructions on this test”.

Then the teacher says, “I told you to read the instructions before you began!”

“He was saved by a few Destroyer Escorts and jeep carriers who fought so hard the Japanes were fooled into thinking they were up against a main force and withdrew before what would have been a major victory for them.”

That’s the ‘Battle off Samar’ as told in Hornfischer’s

‘The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors: The Extraordinary World War II Story of the U.S. Navy’s Finest Hour’

CDR Ernest Evans was awarded the Medal of Honor for his role in this battle. I liked the way that Hornfischer compared Evan’s fearless style of battle with that of his Cherokee ancestors.

Which Spirit song?

I like Spirit too

But to dismiss Zepplin for that claim is unfair

Originality is not the benchmark for underrated

Lydia Lovich was original.....;

Page had pretty good chops as a Bird......and Zepp really blew out the MS blues .....if they stole ut then did Hendrix and Clapton too?

And Spirit went in to Thunder Island......quite a fall from Sardonicus.....and Firefall....very Poco-ish
...and JoJo Gunner...i saw them....we have a poster that moniker

The Who were original cause of very odd Pete and they were not Blues based....a wee bit cause Pete felt obligated

Anyhow ....are you old.....most Zep bashers here hate boomers as much as anything

I love LZ one thru Holy

It was standard setting for the time but Wenner and his faggot pals at RS hated them

But Lester Bangs knew better

Not to take away from LA’s Spirit but to me the two are no more related than Cream and the Grateful Dead
