LOS ANGELES A Louisiana-born beauty with blond locks and a heart-shaped face, Reese Witherspoon, 37, has been considered an all-American sweetheart for years, winning over audiences with her performances in movies from "The Man in the Moon" to "Legally Blonde" to "Walk the Line." But given her arrest for disorderly conduct on Friday -- and how she treated a cop just trying to do his job -- has the Oscar-winner plunged off her pedastal?
Witherspoon was handcuffed and taken to the local police station after cops spotted her and her agent-husband Jim Toth's silver Ford Fusion weaving in and out of lanes. As Toth was given a Breathalyzer test and subsequently arrested for DUI -- reportedly blowing a .139 -- Witherspoon allegedly went on a rude rampage that involved pulling the celebrity card.
"Do you know my name?" she is said to have told authorities. "You're about to find out who I am... You are going to be on national news."
True. But what she failed to realize is that she would be, too, as she was arrested of disorderly conduct.
"Reese Witherspoons arrest is a blight on her brand and something which will have an impact on her career. While she may not face serious criminal charges, in the court of public opinion, the actress who was known as Americas sweetheart can face serious backlash from fans," crisis management expert and CEO of 5WPR, Ronn Torossian, told FOX411's Pop Tarts column. "DUI is an ugly crime. And pulling the Hollywood card is something which will haunt her along with the rest, because it smacks of arrogance and disrespect."
The big problem is Witherspoon has herself publicly claimed the good girl mantle in the past.

Not our Elle Wood....
Just another progressive Dem who wants “Gun Control” I think Reece needs BOOZE CONTROL..oh and Reece I dont give a flying F who you are
Hmmm, a big-time celeb like Witherspoon rolling in a lowly, for her standards, Ford Fusion? I would’ve thought something like a Lambo, Ferrari, Bentley, etc.
A culture that worships celebrities is decadent and in decline.
If this is the only real example of her trying to use her celebrity status, it probably means she’s fairly down to earth in real life.
I was delighted to hear this story!
A typical Hollywood lib who tried to throw her weight around in a drunken stupor. She can “apologize” all she wants but the truth of how she feels about her celebrity status and her ability to use it to her advantage came out.
This reminds me of Mel Gibson’s alcoholic racist rant.
I’ve never liked she is the jutting chin anyway and her acting abilities are limited and questionable.
Now she seems to have married a loser like her last husband too. What goes around comes around.
Not in Texas. If the talk becomes a threat or physical contact occurs then the game changes. Disorderly conduct only applies when the offense “offends” the general public.
An officer can arrest you, if you’re interfering with an arrest. The fact that no charges are being reported probably means the officer was more interested in containing the situation than actually wanting to charge her.
On the bright side, at least she didn’t marry that d-bag Jesse James.
Not the best photo of her, but far from the worst mugshot I’ve seen...
The US has become a place where talentless entertainers, treasonous politicians, porn performers, criminal pro-athletes, liberal idiots/morons/traitors and lying journalists, are sadly-mistaken for people of importance.
When arrested she asked, “Do you know my name?”
I SOOOOO hope the arresting officer answered, “Aren’t you felony Melanie?”
Can't it be both?
