I believe in God, through his son, Jesus Christ, and thus I allow the scriptures to be my authority for my Christian life just as I accept the Constitution as the authority for my civic life.
I have never been able to believe that man evolved from apes. I can not reconcile that with scripture. However, I don’t understand all the geology and other questions about creation and so I just accept that God created everything while I still enjoy studying History and Science.
I know that God works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform. He also said that he confounds the wise and gives wisdom to his children who ask for it.
I don’t claim to know everything and the bible tells me I won’t until I am in heaven with him.
I am and have always been a very skeptical person by nature. It is very hard for me to believe anything unless I search it out for myself.
I know the bible is truly God’s word because from the moment I believed in Jesus, I have never for one moment ever doubted the scriptures. Knowing myself as I do, this causes me to know it is God who gives me the faith to believe it.
Like you, I also believed the truth spoken in the Scriptures from the moment I accepted Christ in my heart.
Since then, I have endeavored to better understand the Word. So I have pushed myself to find the truth about things I believed but had difficult time explaining therm or leading others into the truth.
I have been blessed to be able to understand many things now, due to my ability to study the original texts in Hebrew and Koinonia Greek.
This has enabled me to delve deeply into the original meaning of texts, which in turn allows me to defend the faith with anyone who would use their limited knowledge to confuse others.
Apologetics is what all of Paul’s letters are. Defending the faith against those who would distort the truth. Like Paul, I will not back down from those who would steal the joy of my fellow Christians, by leading them down the road of heresy.
