I remember about 1958 when I was 7. Dad would come on Friday and always ask “Hon, did you get a twenty today?”
Today I ask Mrs. POF did you get $200 today and it’s the same purchasing power, maybe less than Mom & Dad’s twenty.
I remember about the same time my wife’s old tight wad uncle would give his wife $20 and tell her to “get him a fifth and a carton of cigarettes and buy groceries with the rest”
She usually had to chip in some.
