Global Cooling has already been confirmed on other scientific grounds. The point of the article is that the snows of Rainer are perfectly consistent with that scientific data - another proverbial feather in the cap.

Yes, I grew up in Olympia and graduated from CHS in 1984. I too spent much time in the Olympics and Cascades as a youngster, but not as much these days.
