An influential U.S. panel is calling for HIV screening for all Americans aged 15 to 65, regardless of whether they are considered to be at high risk, a change that may help lift some of the stigma associated with HIV testing.

The new guidelines from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), a government-backed panel of doctors and scientists, now align with longstanding recommendations by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for testing of all adults aged 15 to 65, regardless of their risk. …

Despite strides in reducing cases of HIV infection in the United States in the past three decades, as many as 50,000 Americans become infected with the virus each year. The CDC estimates that almost 1.2 million people in the United States are infected with HIV, yet 20 percent to 25 percent of them do not know it. …

How often do they want to do this testing?

As often as the new National Health Care will pay the fees.

How will this be enforced?

A billion bullets and the automatic weapons to fire them with.

Is the government going to infect everyone in order to remove the stigma?

It is the only way to be 'unbiased'.

Perhaps they could infect Sandra Fluke, and then she could pass it on to most of the guys (or girls) in college.

I can see at least 90% of Americans standing in line like sheep for those shots too.... after Boston.

Sandra Fluke is, in reality, a sentient STD.

That would have been impossible, how would you have found all the gays to quarantine, also assume that homosexuality wasn’t as in your face then as it is now.

But I agree, if you could have done it. We wouldn’t have a problem with HIV.

There really is no reason that any heterosexual should be tested for HIV unless they are an IV drug user.

If these "people" don't know they're infected, how does the government know?

Legalize sodomy = higher rate of HIV. Shocking!

Here we go- a segment of the population relishes illegal drug use and casual irresponsible sex so the government hauls me in to account for it.

“Gawd, I’d be so banned if I gave my response”.

...and we wouldn’t want that, would we?

AIDS should have been declared an epidemic back in the eighties. Now the CDC should be declared an epidemic.

Yes, of course people that have sex with many strange partners are at risk of getting diseases, all sorts. What I’m saying is those types of people aren’t at high risk of getting HIV, unless they are engaging in sodomy. You can look at the statistics of HIV in the lesbian / hetero community and compare it to faggots.

Really gays are the problem, and why HIV continues to spread.

Horse manure. I have been faithful since HIV was recognized, have not used IV drugs, and have not received a transfusion. There is no way in the world I am going to waste my time and the insurance company’s money (meaning my money) on a meaningless test just to make some pervert or loser feel better about getting tested.

So mamograms and prostrate exams are a waste but testing everyone for hiv is good. I’m sure it makes sense to someone.

So they aren’t worried about finding more people with HIV they just want to relieve the stigma Faggots feel when they get tested.

What a phucked up world we live in today.

I have two words for the so-called "influential U.S. panel"..., "Off" and "F**k", they should be smart enough to put them in the proper order...!

Reuters is actually getting good — it even reports the name of the BIG PHARMA Company that sells the HIV test - Abbott Laboratories. Follow the money!

how about eff that, why should non at risk folks have to get tested just to make at risk folks feel better? If you aren’t gay and don’t use intravenous drugs you probably don’t need to add additional expense to the “system” by getting tested
