Why did the jets want tim tebow in the first place
Yahoo Sports ^ | April 29, 2013 | Les Carpenter

Off goes Tim Tebow, the player they pursued hard but never really wanted. They shamed him for their own lousy judgment, showing him on Monday just how disgusted they were. Perhaps they are right – Tim Tebow might not be an NFL player. At least not a quarterback. But they could have done a lot better than kick him in the face on a day when they should be wiping the mud from their own.

Now that Al Davis is dead the Jets may replace the Raiders as the NFL poster child for boneheaded management.

obviously, their intention was to remove a year of activity from his record, cast doubt on his abilities, and lose a year of development

all in an effort to undermine his career as an NFL QB

he should do a walk-on tryout. he’d almost assuredly get the position and it would totally drive the media nutz.

Tim, please consider tampa :)

I blame Jimmy Sexton for not pushing Teabow harder to take the Jacksonville offer. OTOH, Tim will be fine.

If he gets picked up before he clears waivers then the team that takes him is on the hook for his contract. Once he clears waivers then there may be interest in him if the price is right.

Well the Browns keep trying for the title but then they screw it up every once in awhile and do something Right like taking Thomas in the First Round in 2007, or taking Trent Richardson in the First Round last year. But they still manage to constantly screw the pouch on Coach choices and other player choices.

Remember when they had Belicheck as their head coach? I'll always wonder how things would have turned out if they had given him a little more time.

Sanchez was pretty thoroughly ruined by the Jets as well but at 4x Tebow’s salary.

“He also had a legion of fans who followed him because of his strong Christian beliefs”

______________________________________________________

It sounds like he’s pretty popular. The article I read on this mentioned that the Chicago Bears might be interested in him—as someone who grew up in Des Plaines and saw many Bears games—I think that would be awesome.

I admire his strong faith—that will help support him during this trying time for him and his family.

Isn’t he the NFL player who did the Vicks commercial with his little boy? Or perhaps it was a player from the New Orleans team. That was a sweet ad—very loving.

Please excuse my lack of football knowledge. LOL. :)

p.s., I love the link you have to your church. I get Vermont t.v. up here, and try to go to mass regularly. My husband and children were baptized as Catholics; I grew up Presbyterian—and I’m the only one who goes to church! LOL. :)

Yeah I remember, "Metcalf up the middle"... Firing Kosar and Keeping Vinny "Interceptiverde" He had one winning season in Cleveland AND he was fired AFTER the move to Baltimore was announced. His last year hear he went 5 and 11 after starting 3-1 Vinny lived up to his name and literally threw away every game. Bellijoke didn't get a Head coaching job for another 5 years. THEN, he started winning.

Yes, Browns Fans remember Belligoof!

Best artical I have read on the subject. The NY Jets organization is a circus, a joke, with management that continues to make the wrong moves almost daily. To them I will say that what goes around comes around. Shameful.

His answer to that is “how many SB rings do I have?...” Say what you want he is the best winning coach in the last 15 years.

Yeah and everyone else's answer to that is how many do you have Bill after you weren't allowed to cheat anymore?

Like one of his former players said "Its no mystery, if your QB or your Middle Linebacker knows exactly what the opponent is doing its easy to look like a genius."

Once that "knowledge" was pulled from Belichick he lost his so-called 'Super Bowl Edge"...

Nobody is persecuting Tebow for anything.

The ownership has been a mess for years which is why they stink.

Woody Johnson (Jets owner) wanted to grab headlines, the back pages of the tabloids from the New York Giants who had won the SB. There are many unsold PSL (personal seat licenses) that go for 100k a pop unsold, they wanted to sell Jersey’s.

THAT IS WHY THEY SIGNED TEBOW $$$$$$

Nothing more nothing less, the Jets are incompetent offensively had no idea how to use the kid.

Hopefully Tebow will wake up and decide to play a position other than QB so he can have a career in the NFL.

Since cameragate the Pats have won more games than any team in the nfl, you don’t have enough money to buy a clue.

"Since cameragate the Pats have won more games than any team in the nfl"

The Year after of Cameragate they didn't make the playoffs and went .000 in the playoffs 2 years after that. (Winning the AFC east in those yearsover the power houses of the Bills, Jets and the FINS to qualify for the playoffs. hahaha)

But don't take my word, just check out the story from Former players who confirmed that each week before the game they got an entire sheet of the opposing teams calls and they would practice last minute adjustments to defense them or exploit them on offense.

I'm not saying they didn't have good teams, but they relied on using the opposing teams calls to beat them and when that was no more they didn't come close to being the dominate team they were using the opposing teams "calls" and this is not supposition on my part it is from Former players who laid out the facts. Its why Belichick had the largest fine ever for a coach until the "bounty-gate scandal of the Saints!

He’s better off in Canada....take a team like the Saskatchewan Roughriders....I mean it would be the biggest thing to hit Saskatchewan since.....since...........

But that is probably his only chance to work his way back to the NFL, it worked for Doug Flutie and Warren Moon.

BS, doing what every other team did and the whiner Rex Ryan got tired of having his arse handed to him. Being at the top makes you the target.

I say this not being a Pats fan, just like to watch a good team win.

Well the year after SPygate Belichick didn't make the playoffs with the same exact team that went 16-0 in the regular season in the Spygate year because he didn't win his division against the "powerhouse teams" of the AFC east "Fins, Jets and Bills" post spygate.

Yes, everyone of them that are caught cheating red-handed and have that advantage taken away... that is.

T-shirt sales. Get the fans excited about something besides winning. Refocus the media on Tim instead of how unbelievably awful the Jets are and their inability to win football games.

It worked. And the only real question is whether it was worth the money.

No, no, no.

It's obviously an anti-Christian conspiracy cooked up by the Broncos, John Elway, the Jets, Rex Ryan, the NFL & probably Obama.

That's the more rational answer.....

Teh year of cameragate (game 1) they went 18-1 and led the SB until the last minute with an injured Brady, the next year they went 11-5 and missed the playoffs with Brady injured for the entire season. anyway dream on loser.

They will be back in the SB this year again for the 3rd time since cameragate.
