This is your Turner Classic Movie channel alert with a Ronald Reagan film!
Tonight...Brother Rat(1938), 8pm est
"A military cadet and his friends try to keep his marriage a secret."
Overview & Cast
I remember this. Good movie I thought at the time.
King was a hated bastard, but the hidden theme of the movie was that he gave the other prisoners something to focus their hate on in the midst of a Japanese POW imprisonment.
Sorry...didn’t catch the “brother” part...I was thinking of “King Rat”....different movie entirely...
My bad...
I don’t believe that story line is from this film.
FUNNY flick!
No problem, I’ll keep an eye out for King Rat.

One of George Segal’s better roles I think.
Thanks for the TCM alert, FRiend! We may check it out (or will DVR it) tonight.
A comedy, set at VMI.
Watched this last night for the second time.
I couldn’t help but wax nostaligic for that simpler, more innocent time in America that this movie depicts. If this were filmed today, some of the VMI classmates would probably have to be gay, and we’d be treated to an anti-war propaganda message.
And after watching so many different characters I kept thinking how modern society has robbed so many of their individual character.
