I remember this. Good movie I thought at the time.

King was a hated bastard, but the hidden theme of the movie was that he gave the other prisoners something to focus their hate on in the midst of a Japanese POW imprisonment.

Watched this last night for the second time.

I couldn’t help but wax nostaligic for that simpler, more innocent time in America that this movie depicts. If this were filmed today, some of the VMI classmates would probably have to be gay, and we’d be treated to an anti-war propaganda message.

Agreed. The original studio bosses loved America and were dedicated to building her up.

And after watching so many different characters I kept thinking how modern society has robbed so many of their individual character.
