“I'm a mother of five, my husband is a doctor, I’m a nurse. Until about four years ago i had never shot a gun. I believe in the second amendment, but I was afraid of the gun,” Christine Taylor, a Gunsite participant told Fox, “I think if you have guns in your house, the safety is knowing how to use them.”

I never cease to be amazed how difficult it is for otherwise very intelligent people to grasp this concept, when the exact same notion (i.e. safety is knowing how to use them) applies to cars, lawn mowers, ovens, fireplaces, chainsaws, liquid bleach, etc.

Somehow firearms have taken on a mystique that people want to attribute to them some kind of arcane rules and esoteric notions that defy the laws of physics and metaphysics when in fact, they are simply tools designed for specific tasks.

Well said. It’s pathetic that over the years guns have been demonized in our country when in fact they’re a tool and like any tool a person has to learn to use them safely.

There’s tons of evidence that governments who’ve disarmed their populations have enslaved them and many intelligent people still refuse to grasp it.

And then along comes Obama, we need to be armed more than ever.
