In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

aleatory \EY-lee-uh-tawr-ee, -tohr-ee, AL-ee-\ , adjective
1. of or pertaining to accidental causes; of luck or chance; unpredictable: an aleatory element.
2. Law. depending on a contingent event: an aleatory contract.
3. Music. employing the element of chance in the choice of tones, rests, durations, rhythms, dynamics, etc.

Example sentences:
...it was not a matter of reduction at all, but—perversely—of expansion, the aleatory flutter of uncontrolled, metastatic growth…
-- David Foster Wallace, Infinite Jest, 1996

[Man] is supposed to love happiness; it is my contention that he rather loves excitement. Danger, enterprise, hope, the novel, the aleatory, are dearer to man than regular meals.
-- Robert Louis Stevenson, The Day After To-morrow, 1866

Etymology:
Hailing from the Latin word meaning "the dice" or "chance" alea, aleatory first surfaced in English in the late seventeenth century.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

The Mass. election of a former Navy Seal whose allegiance to the Republican Party is questionable may be the aleatory card in the stacked deck. He could be liberal enough for Dems to cross lines. Markey is not considered the high and mighty Dem leader. Sh**, he has the voice of Eeyore and is less personable.

I remember Markey from the clinton years and do not like him. Good luck in that election. A for you.

not sure that's a good idea. Gingeroux was the NHL13 cover and the Flyers didn't make the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

The only thing that would make him better looking is a Preds jersey. I’ve been wanting him here for years!

I have scheduled little dog’s surgery for this month. He’ll have the cataracts removed and new lenses put in place. And he’ll be able to see!

He is more easily startled now because he thinks that things are all of a sudden appearing near him. I think it will help a lot on walks where he is usually scared to death.

I bet you are right. I read recently where Chris Pronger, who has had multiple concussions and poor peripheral vision as a result, is often scared by his kids, because he doesn’t see them coming. Very sad.

That is excellent! Comparing him to Zoolander was a clever way of answering the question without being an obvious smart arse in front of the kid. By the way, it appears it's no secret that the Hawks are hot.

I’m glad the little dog will have a chance to have a full life-

It is windy, cloudy and 47 here-winter is baaack-a gust of wind nearly knocked me off my feet while I was on the trail on top of the hill earlier...

How foolish does Obama look
Along with all his spinners?
Recent events make them look
Like a gaggle of beginners

There is nothing aleatory
Or random, as they had said
About the Boston bombing
And people injured or dead

The terrorists were not alone-
They had plenty of assistance
Fortunately, their enablers were
Too dumb to go the distance...
