If that’s really her, all I can say is: WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED???!!!!! Obviously she was run over by a garbage truck immediately following the photo shoot and plastic surgeons have been trying to fix her ever since.

We might like this to be true but it isn't. A more reliable source shows that the picture is from 1951 and was taken in Los Angeles. At the time, Nancy D'Alessandro (Pelosi) was about 11 years old and living in her native Baltimore. The apparent source of the photo and explanatory material can be found at:

OK, so Miss Lube Rack’s i.d. maybe in doubt, but that’s a ‘53 Olds Rocket 88 up on the hoist. A great car from a great era. Had one about 20 years ago, complete with an “I Like Ike” bumper sticker on the back.
