Lindsay Lohan enters rehab at Betty Ford Center

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lindsay Lohan has checked into a rehab and will not face a probation violation for leaving another treatment facility after a few minutes, a prosecutor said Friday.

Santa Monica Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White said he has received confirmation that Lohan has checked in to a rehab facility and he is satisfied with her location. He declined to say where Lohan is receiving treatment, but a source close to the actress who was not authorized to speak publicly said she has checked in to the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The "Liz & Dick" star is required to spend 90 days in rehab as part of a plea deal in a misdemeanor case filed after a June car accident.

Part of my sympathizes with her, as she apparently could not find a treatment center where smoking is allowed. IMO, it is stupid to try to force people to give up cigs when there are more pressing addiction issues.

I hope she can beat her addictions. America loves a comeback. Look at Andy Dick. He seems to be doing a lot better and he won over a lot of people with his recent stint on dancing with the stars.

Who?

She was great in Harry Potter but her career took a downward turn when she played Elizabeth Taylor, because she was way to classy for Liz

<><><><

It’s so hard to tell what’s sarcasm.

She had no role at all in Harry Potter, and Lindsay has about the same level of classiness as your neighborhood meth head. Liz clearly benefited from the lack of a 24 hour news cycle when she was in her, uh, prime.

Liz has way better acting credentials.

Why is she listening to the court? It’s not like she will go to jail for more than a week. What has she been arrested for so far? DWI like a billion times, grand theft about 3 times, drugs, hit and run, and what time has she done? 2 weeks? Hey it’s California, it’s not like she will do any real time. Go out! Party!

Betty Ford Center doesn’t have a ‘marilyn suite’ but it DOES have a Liz Taylor Suite and that probably is where she is staying - my wife used to work there.

I am too. What did it for me was AA and living with other people. If I live alone or if I am left alone for more than a few days, fooorget it. The urge is insane to drink. It’s very bizarre because when I am with my family, or my GF , I have absolutely no desire. But if they go away for a weekend or whatever, it hits me like a ton of bricks out of nowhere and I can spend all day trying to resist. Something they never advertise about alcoholism is what an incredible time waster it is. When I was at my worst, the years flew by like seconds. And BTW, good screen name LOL! That was me, but it was more like “Joe case”

I no longer feel sorry for this self-centered, out-of-control woman. Yes, addiction is horrible and hard to beat. But she has had so many chances, and is in no way remorseful, and has been caught again and again lying and cheating and trying to manipulate the system, or use whatever is left of her “star power” and looks to get a better deal. She needs a long stretch in jail, followed by a long stretch in a halfway house. Then she needs to get serious about a drug & alcohol program that will keep her sober after she is on her own again. Until then, screw her.

Interesting. Yeah...I chose the screen name while I was still in my cups, but I love the irony. I have just about 10 years off the bottle, and AA has been absolutely essential.

I actually live about 1250 miles from my nearest relatives, and maintain a pretty small circle of friends, but fortunately the compulsion and desire to drink has largely faded, but I know it's always lurking somewhere in the background like a caged rabid rat just waiting for the opportunity to get out; it's pretty good incentive to regularly and scrupulously inspect the cage to make sure it's in good working order.

I have been listening to a series on prayer by Charles Stanley. Talking about getting on your knees when that whispering in the ear starts, and as a child of God, the power He will surround you with cannot be overcome. Something to think about.

I only suffer from nail biting and chronic pain, so I can’t imagine the struggle of addiction. I raised my kids to understand that for hard drugs if you never try them you never battle the addiction, and for the socially acceptable drugs, don’t overindulge. We have been blessed in that department.

Gee whiz, will you get a grip?

He posted a pic from 2003 (that could be considered in the early 2000's) when LL would have ben 17 or 18 and stated he had a crush on her as a college freshman. Most college freshmen are 18 years old when they start their freshman year. What in the world is so problematic for you for an 18 year old to have a crush on a 17 or 18 year old??

“I no longer feel sorry for this self-centered, out-of-control woman. Yes, addiction is horrible and hard to beat.”

"Horrible and hard" does not even scratch the surface.

I have seen addiction cripple even the most hard working, intelligent and strong people. It is truly a mental illness where nothing else matters to the person except for that substance or behavior. Not their children, not their friends, not even themselves. I've seen people lose all their teeth, organs and body parts to addiction and still not stop. Formerly good husbands smoking crack in the basement while their family is crying and being evicted from their home. Men dressing up as women to sell themselves for dope.

Even if you are clean for decades, it still follows you around forever. Imagine the most charming and convincing salesman in the world sitting on your shoulder 24/7 and constantly telling you to do it “just one last time”. Constantly reminding you of how great giving in feels, rationalizing everything and helping you figure out how to lie/cheat/steal to get it. It truly is a form of “possession”.

IMO, there is no cure for many addicts and they can never be free. Nomatter how much jail, rehab, etc. The only way they stay on track is someone else watching 24/7 to keep them honest.

I blame idiot judges for being too weak-kneed to send her to jail.

They order her to rehab and then agree to release her in mere hours. They ought to sentence her to the State Pen for 2 years.

If/when LiLo croaks - there will be blood on the hands of “sympathetic” judges.

Well seeing how you were or are in the military, thanks for your service, you probably started college later than me. Lindsey and I were the same age when I had a crush on her. Seeing that we're both conservatives and not on DU, I think we're both in agreement that a mature adult liking a teen is messed up and wrong.

Funny story, I had a coworker a couple of days ago try to hook me up with her niece, and she told me, "you'll love her she looks just like Selena Gomez." I then gave her a weird look and said "Wait, isn't Selena Gomez 16?" She said, "Sorry about that my niece is 24." Lol ;)

You don't have to tell me anything. YOU were the one to jump to conclusions and judge erod without all the details. I simply pointed out that in the overwhelming majority of cases people start college at 18 years of age and LiLo would have been really close to that at the time. The picture clearly states it was from 2003. In the fall of 2003 Lindsey would have been 17 years old which is well within acceptable age range of an 18 year old college freshman.

I appreciate your kind words. We do agree that mature adults looking at teens improperly is messed up. Your story is humorous. I’ve got a 13 year old granddaughter. About a year ago my wife and I took her to breakfast. As we were leaving there was a man in his mid to late 20’s staring at my granddaughter’s backside. My granddaughter didn’t notice. The man saw the look on my face as I was about to walk past him, and very quickly looked away. He knew my thoughts.
