It started with academic environments, where people with PhDs would say, "Does the concept of truth really matter? Can we ever really know something?"
Then it came into politics, "It depends on the meaning of the word 'is'."
Now we have a lot of crackpot theories about 9/11, and Sandy Hook, and everything else.
Internet memes about impossible staircases which "really exist" in the real world just feed into this.
People are easy to rule if "reality" is whatever their overlords tell them it is. If nothing is true, then everything is permitted (if you are in the ruling class).
Video editing. This isn’t even remotely mysterious.
