Pictured: Suspect accused of taking three teens arrested with his brothers
mail online ^ | Thomas Durante and Associated Press

Posted on 05/07/2013 5:33:42 AM PDT by Morgana

The prime suspect in the astonishing kidnapping case of three women held captive for ten years has been taken into custody - as well as two of his own brothers.

Ariel Castro, 52, of Cleveland, Ohio was arrested on Monday after one of his alleged victims escaped his home and called police.

Neighbors in the street were shocked to hear that Castro, who was once a school bus driver in the Cleveland area, could be capable of abducting three innocent teenagers from the street and tying them up with chains in his basement.

Castro's Facebook page depicts a man with a passion for motorcycles and the bass guitar.

His last post to the social networking site on May 2 says: 'Miracles really do happen, God is good :)'

The man who came to Amanda Berry's rescue, Charles Ramsey, expressed disbelief that his neighbor could be capable of such a disturbed and shocking crime.

He told NewsNet5: 'I've been here a year. I barbeque with this dude, we eat ribs and what not and listen to salsa music. Not a clue that that girl was in that house or that anyone else was in there with.

'He's somebody you look and then you look away because he's just doing normal stuff. You got some big testicles to pull this one off because we see this guy every day.'

Sources close to local station WOIO said the women were reportedly tied up during their captivity and police found chains hanging from one of the ceilings

They also reported there were signs that dirt had recently been moved in the backyard of the house, though police continue to investigate whether or not the dirt will lead to any new evidence in the case.

Are they illegals? I see the whole street was full of them. I wonder what secrets these neighbors knew and decided not to tell?

Use to. Now thanks to liberals he will get full medical and dental, a college education (in which a job will be waiting for him at Columbia if he ever gets out) music recreation, internet, TV, food, shelter, clothing, eyeglasses, eye care, drugs, and he gets to sue the state if something doesn’t agree with him.

From what country did Mr. Castro originally come from?

When did Mr. Castro arrive in the United States from his home country?

How much in taxpayer funds were expended in raising Mr. Castro and his siblings? What Federal programs administered the distribution of the taxpayer funds?

Was Mr. Castro given a preference over an American in hiring when he bothered to work as a bus driver?

Did the taxpayer provide the succulent ribs Mr. Castro and his neighbors feasted upon?

Did the taxpayer provide the funds used by Mr. Castro to feed the girls he so enjoyed?

Cynical ain't I?

Well who hasn't kidnapped women and chained them in their basement for ten years? Come on. He probably was misunderstood as a child. Or, federal taxes weren't high enough on the rest of us. I'm sure it isn't his fault.

I know, in keeping with the gun control logic, the BASEMENT, was the cause of all this. If he didn't have a basement none of this would have happened. We need common sense basement control laws right now!

The guy who responded to her and made the 911 call was hilarious in his interview with local TV reporters...

"Bro, I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into the arms of a black man. Something is wrong here. Dead give-away. Dead give-away. Deeeeeead give-away. Either she homeless or she got problems. That's the only reason she run to a black man."

Ariel and his two brothers---all Hispanic--are in custody, Cleveland media reports. Ariel Castro, 52, owns the 2207 Seymour Avenue home in Cleveland, where three women were found 10 years after they disappeared.

<><> Investigators with the Scripps TV station in Cleveland found that Castro was arrested in December 1993 for domestic violence. That case was later dismissed. <><>Castro was also arrested in December 1993 for disorderly conduct. He pleaded guilty to the charge. <><> Investigators with the Scripps station in Cleveland also found Castro was stopped six times by Cleveland police between 1995 and 2008 for traffic violations.

A representative with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District said that a man named Ariel Castro used to work as a bus driver for the district.

Apparently he has no visible means of support. Clevelanders are in for a rude awakening---apparently they have been financing this criminal via a host of tax-subsidized welfare benefits

DeJesus, now 23, went missing on her way home from school in 2004. Knight, now 19, went missing in 2002.

Ms Knight was taken at the age of 9? I thought she was older, not younger... I thought she was 20's to 30s from an earlier story.

Amanda's daughter (born in captivity... without medical aid, I wonder??) is now 6. IMaybe a large part of her motivation was that her daughter was about to start being victimized, too... if she hadn't been already.

I noticed something in the 911 call that is disturbing.

Here is the call:

Caller: Help me. I’m Amanda Berry.
Dispatcher: You need police, fire, ambulance?
Caller: I need police.
Dispatcher: OK, and what’s going on there?
Caller: I’ve been kidnapped and I’ve been missing for 10 years, and I’m, I’m here, I’m free now.
. . . . . . .
Dispatcher: OK, talk to the police when they get there.
Caller: OK (unintelligible).
Dispatcher: WE'RE GOING TO SEND THEM AS SOON AS WE GET A CAR OPEN.

Good Lord. . . .a hysterical girl calls, tells the 911 operator that she just escaped from being kidnapped and held for the past 10-yrs and the 911 operator basically says, ‘thanks, we will send someone when we get a chance.”

Good Lord. . .

Good grief.....after seeing the sickening performance of law enforcement, who termed all three girls as “run aways” and then did nothing, at their first news conference, no one can respect these “public servants.” The FBI would now like tips from the public....when there are three women who can tell them anything they need to know about their captivity. They are all really, really BUSY now processing the crime scene, doncha know.

The nation should be outraged by this pathetic job performance of our taxpayer-funded law enforcement agencies, both local and federal.

The fact that they are Latino doesn’t mean much. Sadly, there are plenty of good old, domestic-born Americans who do this type of stuff. Remember Jaycee Dugard? Steven Stayner? Or the woman who locked her grandson in a kennel for seven years while she went to work? All Americans. There are a lot of sick people out there. There probably are children who are living in Hellish conditions right now. Its a disturbing thought that these things are going on around us even now.

Just because Ms. Knight was taken into their care at age 9 doesn’t mean the brothers did anything wrong....

....according to Sharia. moHAMmed consummated his marriage with Aisha at that age, and kept her under wraps thereafter too.

Who are we to judge?

He kidnapped kids. If the guards ever let the general population within reach of him he will have a hard time.

I don't know about honor among thieves, but there is a hierarchy in prison, and people that abuse kids are at the very bottom.

Guilty as charged! I used to have a book of formulas from Popular Mechanics, that today would probably land me in jail.

And still have an old Hunter, Trapper, Trader (Hardings Magazine) book of 3001 Questions and Answers which tells how to make your own smokeless gunpowder.

And an old FOXFIRE book on how to make your own black powder by extracting nitrates from dirt.
