I Need Your Prayers and Good Thoughts (Sad Update #206)
Myself | 5-08-2013 | Myself

Posted on 05/08/2013 6:25:18 PM PDT by Nowhere Man

I need some prayers and good thoughts since my mother was just diagnosed with breast cancer and we are just beginning to fight it. She goes for a PET scan tomorrow and also to an oncologist to get meds to shrink the cancer. She also has a good doctor, some friends and acquaintances have the same one and many women have kicked it with her help plus the doctors say, "don't worry, we have many ways to fight it." Many thanks to all.

Prayers for your mom. They’ve advanced so far in this area and I’ll look forward to updates in the future.

Thanks! If Patricia has ringing in her ears — it is just all of us having her in our prayers.

Several nurses I work with who have been diagnosed with breast cancer are doing very well with treatment; it’s been over 5 years for a few of them.

Also Laura Ingraham

Prayers that your mom will have a complete recovery.

My best friend was just diagnosed in January (got the call the 2nd - great start to the new year!). I found out how quickly a dear friend, with one phone call, can go to a very, very precious friend. From my friend’s experience with chemo so far, your mom will need your support & I know she has it. Your mom has my prayers that God will strengthen her to deal with the trials ahead and bless her with His healing power. MM

Well........I sort of messed up on Logan’s Ping list, dropping a bunch of folk from the bottom of the alphabetized thing. So........for those of you who didn’t get pinged, here it is.

PLEASE pray for Nowhere Man’s Mom!

My daughter was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast cancer last August, Stage IV with metastases to her bones. She was started on chemo immediately, and had a very good response to it. There are wonderful meds now, and she never vomited once due to chemo. Breast cancer treatments have changed tremendously, and they are discovering more treatments constantly.

Your mom will feel much better once she has a treatment plan in place. The first weeks are massive info overload. Don’t rely on Dr. Google for getting information! Most statistics are old and outdated, not reflecting new treatment protocols. Go to places like www.breastcancer.org or mayo clinic. etc.

It’s certainly a challenge, and it changes your perspective for the rest of your life. You realize what is really important in life and no longer stress over meaningless things. My daughter is doing very well, recently had a double mastectomy. One note, she had to push her doctors to do a double mastectomy, instead of just removing the cancer side. She just felt strongly for her own peace of mind, to remove them both. Lo and behold, they found two spot of cancer in her ‘healthy’ breast that were undetected by all the prior scans. Your mom needs to trust her instincts, and listen to her body. Don’t ever be afraid to ask for a 2nd opinion, it is crucial that she gets a medical team she can trust, and one that will listen to her.

Best of luck to you and your mother.
