Beyond a certain size there is no truly stylish clothing because an obese figure is unattractive and the best looking clothes in the world will still look like crap. If you cannot see the underlying bone structure and musculature of the human body, it’s form, then there can be no style, beauty of any kind.

People come in a wide variety of bone structures and musculature types but any and all of them will be unattractive when smothered in layers of excessive body fat. Pro-fat people can argue all they want that fat is just as beautiful and that the preference for non-fat bodies is just a cultural thing but they’re wrong.

If your fat and your reading this and getting huffy remember I’m just talking about the body not a person’s character, personality etc., which obviously can be beautiful despite being physically unattractive.

Now, I’m off to eat another peanut butter moon pie!

I believe stores like Holister and American Eagle (daughters choices at the mall) have signs in them that they sell larger sizes online. Maybe GAP to. Not positive about that but I think so.

So... A ‘gay’ business owner is being biased and prejudiced and is bullying fat women. Sounds like a case for Michelle Obama to pursue.

You are correct that there are different body types and it's hard to flatter the truly obese with a particular clothing style. Those overweight but not obese can wear certain types of clothes, darker colors, different cuts to flatter their assets, so to speak!

My grandmother was a wedding gown designer in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s. I have beautiful pictures of the gowns she created. I always thought the secret to her success was that she didn't size her garments! She never went “big time” because she made each dress by hand. She'd say, if a bride asked, “What size is my dress?” “Your Size, honey!” A size 0 or a size 16 was made to fit the person, so it looked well on THEM. This was before the “obesity epidemic” we all talk about. My Grandmother used to say to many brides (and people in general) looked bad because they couldn't accept they were a certain size and bought clothes that were to small. A size 6 wearing a size 2 is not flattering. A size 12 wearing a size 12 is much prettier. Marilyn Monroe wore her 12/14 well! But she couldn't shop at A&F!

I asked my daughter when we walked by A&F before if the huge pictures of semi- naked boys/young men are suppose to attract the young girls to come into the store since obviously people mostly nude aren't advertising the clothes. She said “look at the pictures, only if you're a gay guy”. So a lot of the teens aren't even fooled.

Nothing will get you in trouble faster than telling the truth.

Telling a harsh truth for a good reason may get one in trouble. However glorifying snobbery for profit and fun is not revealing any new truth, but just being an a-hole.

Some people have bodies made by weird science!

When I left Navy Recruit Training (boot camp), my weight was 103 pounds. I wore a petite size 8 skirt which was too short as my inseam is 32”, but not the uniform jacket; that had to be a petite size 14 and fitted around double DD’s which did not shrink.

Today I buy my clothes from Lands End and LL Bean. Polo shirts, chinos and jeans. All my tailored clothing is 30-years old, still wearable and safely stored.

I remember 20 and 30+ years ago; there simply weren't grossly fat people everywhere I looked. Of course, there was always a fat person every now and then, but not everywhere all the time. Look around now. Go into a Wal Mart, for example, and take a look around. It seems that at least half the population is grossly FAT these days.

And not a girdle or corset in sight. "bounce your boobies" has morphed into "jiggle your jello".

Welfare pigs at the trough. Nothing more. Free food, eat what you can on food stamps and use the welfare cash to buy more.

I despise that store and won’t be going in there anymore. My child is a skinny minnie, and has bought their garbage, but the last time I was in there, the obscene music was blaring so loud I couldn’t hear myself think, it was freezing cold and some metrosexual male model was striding around the front. When we bought our stuff, the flakey girl wanted to put it in a bag with a shirtless man pictured on it, so I asked for a regular bag, but no, they didn’t have one. I hate that place. I asked for the manager and told him the volume of the “music” was driving the mothers with the credit cards out of the store and he looked at me like I was incomprehensible to his coolness. However I am way cooler than him, being a person with a brain.

My local mall is only open because of these type of teen stores. They employee 100’s of young people and help keep the other stores and food court open because the parents shop while their kids are shopping in A&F/Hollister. I have to wonder what is the motivation to drag up a quote from 2006 other than to try to shut down a private business with feigned outrage from parents who perceive them to be “bullies”.

Oh and it is vanity sizing. Size 10 women’s shorts in A&F have a 34/36” waist and usually have lycra for more stretch.

I don,t think people object to fat people as much as they do to the reason most people are fat.

Because they do nothing except lay around and eat while some one else works to feed them, and have done that since they were babies.

Of course we know that every one who are fat is not on welfare but in these days of socialist America it is so obvious to any one who lived on a working mans pay in the forties and fifties and even the 1960s.

Able bodied people were expected to manage for themselves even if it meant doing that dirty word , work, or go hungry.

So there is no war against fat people which i for one sure in the hell would have no part in, it is a deep resentment against the socialism that America has adopted which has always failed and would be dehumanizing in any case.

This quote is all over the net. I am on another board with mothers and they are all outraged. Ironically the mom leading the rampage is a Mass liberal and she told everyone they should shop American Apparel because they pay a “living wage” and have healthcare. So I Google Image “American Apparel” to see the type of clothing she is talking about. Just let me say their ads are NSFW. Apparently AA got back in the news after the Bangladesh factory collapse.

"Look around now. Go into a Wal Mart, for example, and take a look around. It seems that at least half the population is grossly FAT these days."

I'm not about to make excuses for this Jeffries guy; he sounds like a typical nasty, image-obsessed fag. But you're right when you say people are getting fatter.

Big women might not be able to shop at A & F, but I can't imagine they have many problems elsewhere. If you go into a store such as Kohl's and glance through the merchandise, you'll find perhaps one small, one or two mediums, five larges, and a big stack of everything up to XXXXL. I asked a clerk once, "What am I supposed to do if I need a smaller size?" She shrugged and said the large sizes are what they get now....women are getting bigger and bigger. She said, "If you find something you like in a small, you should snatch it up quickly."

Marilyn Monroe need not apply.

snopes:

In 2009, fashion features editor Sara Buys had an opportunity to try on some items from a collection of Marilyn Monroe’s costumes and clothes and reported:
Contrary to received wisdom, she was not a voluptuous size 16 — quite the opposite. While she was undeniably voluptuous — in possession of an ample bosom and a bottom that would look at home gyrating in a J-Lo video — for most of the early part of her career, she was a size 8 and even in her plumper stages, was no more than a 10. I can tell you this from experience because a few weeks ago, I tried to try on her clothes.
