At one time, it was popular for people to reload their own ammunition. In fact, at one time in American History, it was necessary.
It seems like this might be a hot topic for some people so that they can get enough ammunition for target practice, etc.
Obviously, those people who do not have ammunition, it would not solve their problems.
But if one could buy the brass casings, the bullets, and the gunpowder -- they could make their own ammunition.
Is this popular right now? Could someone hundreds of brass casings and bullets along with gunpowder, and keep themselves in good steed in terms of a supply of ammunition?
Is this a way to defeat the government buyout of ammunition?
All popular pistol and rifle powders are gone here. Primers are impossible to find.
The only stuff still around are a minimal selection of shotgun reloading items that don’t have a cross over use in pistol or rifle.

You would need primers too and last time I checked (it’s been awhile) they were in short supply too.
I’d like to see new ammo makers start up in Mexico.
I’d support them over US makers.
US makers are traitors that have chosen the DHS over the citizens.
Components are a bit hard to come by but you can load at your leisure. You cannot reload rim fire. My fun shootin’ is usually 32 caliber. I can reload 32 hr mag for 8 or 9 cents each.
So if you planned ahead and stocked up on components, you're sitting as pretty as the "crazy" prepper who bought ammunition by the 1,000 round case.
If you didn't stock up on either components or factory loaded ammunition, it's now too late to start.
Becareful using reloaders as a search term. You are liable to get threads on FR cruises and Inaugural Balls with alot of drinking, fighting, and _____________. ;)
Not really. Try the internet. You will be limited to something like 50,000 primers per shipment due to DOT regulations.

Did a search, and didn’t see any threads specifically addressing reloading component shortages. It’s usually mentioned on threads about ammo shortages, and there’s tons of those.
It appears, besides 'banglist', there are:

'ammo'
Sounds like me thread on the NRA convention should have the keyword 'banglist'
A number of shot shell powders work well in pistol loads. Blue dot and green dot were viable .45ACP propellants in the early eighties. Just about anything available can be made to work with testing. Rifle powder burns too slowly for really good pistol results, but in a pinch, if it makes the thing go bang (as opposed to boom), then......
Primers can be had, they are just VERY scarce.

Cases, hold what you have, and get in good with a local range. There are still folks out there who are not policing their brass!

Did a quick look at Brownells, Midway, Precision Reloading, Recobs, and Graf & Sons... all I could find were some small rifle ar Recobs. Large Pistol... none to be had.
I had to go the other way... I was using Unique in 20 gauge and had to switch over to International Clays.
The prepared reloader is able to shoot all he/she wants..
I started this recent panic with about 40,000 primers. I’m down to about 15K now, having sold the rest at a premium to those who don’t think to plan ahead.
Powder-wise, I’m good through the end of this decade, I think and I have enough bullets to last a few years. I have 500 lbs of lead in 1lb ingots and bullet molds for my favorite calibers and a nice little electric smelter.
Reloading is great! Except that components are very hard to find right now.
It’s all in how you frame the question. Reloading key word brought up several hits on FR.
If you really want to see how popular reloading is do a search on suppliers of reloading equipment like Midway for an example. They have been in business for decades and have done nothing but grow.
There must be millions of reloading presses sitting in garages, shops and dens around the country gathering dust along with tons of components. I have pounds of gunpowder, thousands of primers, boxes of brass and bullets and haven't reloaded a case in the 15 years since I collected it all. I know several people who have supplies that dwarf my collection and haven't loaded much, if anything, for years. There is enough out there to load trillions of rounds of ammo.
I got some Wolf Russian primers form somewhere in Kansas last time. I can’t remember where.
