At first, I thought: “I must be mineral deficient. Or maybe I need more concentrated protein. I’ll eat more sea vegetables. I’ll just add more nuts and hemp seeds and drink more green juice. Then the cravings will stop.”

LOL

Seaweed. Most of us who eat it are honest enough to call it seaweed. It's loaded with mineral nutrients and protein.

Veganism is based on love and compassion, doncha know.
When she went public with meat-eating, she started getting texts from vegans wishing her dead.

She confided to close vegan friends that she craved animal protein and their concern was for the movement, not her well-being...

One more election cycle and she votes Republican.

The Japanese press seaweed into sheets and call it "Nori."

They use it to wrap Sushi.

I use it to wrap Bacon Tacos.

I'm nom nom nomming hell out of some pork I smoked earlier in the week and I don't even know where my teef are.

It's damn good pork, and tender.

You don't have to know where your $5000 teef are to eat a plate of smoked pork.

Nori is the name for the toasted stuff. Don't they have another name for the dried brown seaweed?

Cambodians got about a zillion names for different kinds of seaweed.

No kidding now. That is pure genius in its simplicity. A rather profound statement that sums up in 6 words how stupid the whole vegan/veggie/pescatarian(sp) movement is.

My sister-in-law was a vegan for 30 years until she got a job require jet travel every week and was running out of gas. I fed her my special “spaghetti and meatballs” and she was shocked-shocked at how much energy she had the next day, plus it tasted great.

It reminds me of that new term orthorexia – the idea that we can become unhealthily obsessed with eating the “right, perfect foods.”

Never heard of it but I have met people who fall in that category. Not just eating to keep your body healthy and happy or even a foodie but trying to feed their soul with physical foods.

Thinking that just by eating in a certain way they become "holy" which gives them licenses to abuse the people around them.

My sister-in-law lives across the street from some very sickly Vegan Seventh Day Adventists. one sickly woman prides herself on never having tasted meat.

Oh yes, she smokes “medicinal marijuana” for her ills even though it is not lawful in this state.

the idea that we can become unhealthily obsessed with eating the “right, perfect foods.”

This morning, a cop rolled up in front of the across the street neighbor's house. After making sure they weren't after me, I went out to see what the hubub was, bub. Turns out the neighbor had caught a young, tender possum in her live trap, and the cop was there to pick it up.

I told him I could deal with it.

He asked what I would do with it.

I swear, all I said is "Make biscuits and gravy to go with it" and he had the possum in the patrol car and gone quick.

Some people are so sensitive...

I generally speak Texan. I can get in trouble, get a beer, and find a bathroom in about 5 other languages. None of them are asiatic. Which sucks, because part of my family is from Cambodia. I just can't hear tonal languages. My hearing is shot from the jets and the guns.

And for a while, I thought many of the world’s problems could be solved if more people ate this way. We could end hunger if we fed grain to people instead of cattle. We could end global warming if we reduced the fertilizer, trucking and refrigeration required to produce meat. We could end the obesity epidemic.

Hijiki is one of them. Cooked with dashi, a broth created by boiling kombu(seaweed)in water, flavored with katsuobushi (dried bonita flakes), it is tasty, but while it's cooking, your house smells a little like low tide. ;o)
