The commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, has played down speculation linking the Miami Dolphins with a possible move to Los Angeles.

Florida politicians last week rejected the Dolphins' appeal for taxpayers to partially meet the $350m (£227m) cost of redeveloping their Sun Life stadium.

You might be thinking of Cody Kessler, who seems to be in the lead for starting QB for the Trojans this fall. Max Wittek, who took over from Matt Barkley last year when he got hurt, and Max Browne are also in the hunt.

>>“Give us a free stadium or we’re moving to L.A.!” Is starting to ring awfully hollow.<<

Quite the contrary. It seems to have a 100% success rate.

It has been working for decades. Even for cities WITHOUT teams!

That was the ONLY good thing L.A. did when I was there: ask he NFL how much it will pay to have a team there. L.A. is none the worse for wear for not having a franchise and we got to watch the best games every week.

LA has a profession football team, that pays their players, it’s called “USC.”

No, it was Max Wittek, I think. He played the last game of the year, right? It would be amazing to me that he didn’t start. Seems like a future Heisman winner.

“Give us a free stadium or we’re moving to L.A.!” Is starting to ring awfully hollow.

It worked well 10 yrs ago in Indianapolis, we ponied up $725 mil which is a huge sum for a community our size. But I agree with you, the story is getting old.

The Vikings got their stadium by threatening to move to L.A. I think they will just keep L.A. as a viable location until all the teams get new stadiums. And then begin the process all over again.
