BELCHERTOWN, Mass. — Massachusetts state police say they and the FBI are investigating a trespassing incident at the Quabbin Reservoir but have no evidence of terrorism.
The central Massachusetts reservoir supplies drinking water to Boston.
State Police spokesman David Procopio says Tuesday night that a trooper saw two cars parked at a reservoir park entrance at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, then saw five young men and two young women walking toward them from the reservoir.
Procopio said they are from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Singapore with addresses in Amherst, Cambridge, Sunderland and Northampton, and New York City. He said law enforcement databases show no warrants, detainers or advisories on them.
The men told police they are recently graduated chemical engineers curious about the reservoir.
Procopio said they will be summoned to court later on trespassing charges.
The newbies here assume chemicals, but the wrongly-released
terrorists come from countries involved in biowarfare.
In Massachusetts, special deals for rapists, terrorists,
illegal aliens, and Bulgers.
A hunderd pounds of prussic acid would cause no actual danger to the residents of Boston.
It would cause terror and panic.
Isn't causing terror and panic the whole point of islam, uh, terrorism?

I'm more worried about cabbies. The night the Vietcong took over Huế, they were able to round up every single government official, march them into the jungle and kill them.
They knew exactly where they lived, who they visited, where they shopped and where they ate dinner, and when.
How?
The cabbies had provided the data on their every move for years in advance.
Soooo, where do most of the cabbies in your berg come from? In Washington DC, it's Somalia...

I guess it was kinda an obvious posting for them as it was easy pickings for intel and chatter if the fares talked too much...
nully ~ According to the only American cabbie we had on our last trip to DC, the fares will chatter away about the most sensitive information as if they were alone in the cab.

Sure, I am not surprised that they have NO criminal history, or on any watch list, SO THE GOVERNMENT SAYS at this point...
But the sequester will make it impossible to maintain any kind of surveillance on them, much less do any additional scrutiny...
But we damn well better be on the lookout for any Tea Partiers, or Patriots and 9/12’ers, because they ARE terrorists!!! /sarc
Funny how we are told to NOT profile certain demographics, but the gvernment is surely disturbed by the masses of terrorists posing as Patriot, government hating, white angry men, who want to fight...Those people are ok to scrutinize, and not the real threat...

Chemical engineers at Quabbin Res. at 12:30 am? That body of water supplies more than Boston. Some family going to Disney get a better check than Islamists hanging out at a water supply after midnight. Get them in custody and get serious about protecting the citizens. Terrorism does not often offer a second chance. They were probably taking flying lessons also.

You don’t have to actually “poison” it. You just have to make the alarm bells go off. Make people question the safety of their drinking water. Successful terrorism does not always require a body count.
A chemical engoineer, working with a botanist, could make a very nasty bio-war agent.
Either way, IMHO, these people should never have been allowed to just walk away from this.
Maybe flying lessons, but no evidence. Maybe they were getting commercial drivers licenses, with a hazmat cert, too?
We used to get questioned sometimes when we were at a res near my grad school, what the heck y’all doing out heah t’night?
It is a chilly night to be out stargazing, but so far, other than their nationalities, I don’t see problems.
Shortly after 9/11, I was fly fishing in creek below a dam.
This place was/is in the middle of nowhere. No one goes there unless they are fishers or the few people living in the area.
One evening while returning I notice a car parked on the parking lot at the edge of the dam. I stopped and there were two muslim type couples there outside their car. I asked them what they were doing there. They said they were sight seeing.
I said that was basically dark and their comment was BS, and they might want to move along before one of the red neck ranchers living below the dam found them. They left after some hard glares.
After that I decided to bring along my Ruger nickel plated 357 in its holster, locked in my vehicle when I fished thi prime area.
A couple of days later, I was confronted by an armed fed below the dam saying I was too close to the dam after a 500’ stay out area had been posted.
He was a fly fisher too, and we talked about 9/11. He said that they were concerned about possible acts of terrorism. I told him about my previous encounter and my old Ruger friend now in my truck. He said not to shoot anyone, but to take pictures. That area at that time was a total blackout for any cellphones.
On the way home that evening, I saw the same vehicle in the
same parking area with another vehicle with 4 guys of the same dna outside their vehicle. I parked about 25’ away and put my Ruger on the hood after I did a quick load.
I got my cheap disposable camera out and snapped a couple of flashes (It was too dark, and I got no pictures!). However between the Ruger and the camera flashes, the ROP’s got back into their vehicles and went the opposite direction.
About 6 miles later, I was in cell phone range and called the Sheriff’s department. They had gotten other calls and were waiting for more deputies. I told them the ROP’s had left and were headed back east.
The deputies found no one in that area after they got in to patrol that area.
However, the lake and dam became hi alert areas. After my event, Sheriff Boat patrols on that lake and on some lakes near Sacramento made arrests of non citizens in small boats past the no boats allowed zones near the dams.
A few weeks later, I was again fishing in the legal area below the dam when a couple Air Force Fighter Jets from Travis or the Sac area went blasting upstream and over the dam and made circles around the lake.
At that point, I decided to find other areas to fish.
