A 69-year-old woman was robbed of as much as $200,000 in jewelry, cash and other items by a group of young men in front of a North Michigan Avenue department store this afternoon, authorities said.

A victim was robbed of her possessions in the 700 block of North Michigan Avenue about 12:20 p.m., said Police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.

The victim was not injured in the robbery, Gaines said.

Lack of a “detailed” description suggests
another black on white mob attack directed, encouraged,
condoned, and/or protected by the ultracorrupt
Holder and DO”J”.

for whatever reason, (political correctness), we’re not allowed to discuss race or ethnicity of mob or gang violence. We are allowed to say that the perpetrators are young men, so it’s okay to mention the ages of the criminals. But we can’t mention any other descriptions of them.

Well, we know how liberals are. We have to be sympathetic about the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow laws as we excuse illegal behavior on the part of some people.

Uh, yea. I’m going to walk around by myself with $200k worth if items on me? Don’t think so. This is some type of Insurance fraud scheme, if not, then an inside job with the clerk calling his buddies tellng them about some crazy women with $200k worthof stuff on h er.

Early this morning it was $100k. Still a big iff.

I’m pretty sure that is a Saks store. Maybe they were waiting for the right victim.

I try to not wear more than $50,000 worth of jewelry when walking alone in Chicago. Well, maybe $60,000. But never $200,000. That’s just crazy! I mean, what if someone steals it?

No descriptions available. I can supply them. Oh, then again I better not. That would be so racist.....
The Tribune does not help by reporting the dollar amount of the mob’s bounty. The urban Utes are likely to get the idea that all elderly downtown white ladies go about laden with such loot. Once that myth takes hold, no woman over 50 will be able to walk the streets in Rahm/Obama’s Chicago. One party Chicago continues in its Detroit-like downward spiral.

Disagree.

“Amish” is the perfect mockery.

Amish are law abiding, sober, non-violent, and hard working.

The exact opposite of most urban African-Americans.

I was leaving the Clark and Division subway Friday night when it was filled with a pack of Amish youts. Pretending to fight with each other and just looking for targets. They had the CTA employee cornered who was plaintively saying something about the police ate coming. I slipped out of the station and called 911. The dispatcher seemed unaware of this stop. Its the main stop in the Gold Coast. I said lady you have a pack of youts wilding and you need to send some cops down there now. Cops are all over that neighborhood.....they should have been there in seconds. I waited and none showed up. I believe it was the dispatchers incompetence. There’s no love lost between the cops and these youts . As far as this theft is concerned there is constant police presence right there. Good cops too. Big young guys some right from Afghanistan. This story doesn’t feel right.

1965/66 I commuted every day on Congress El from Oak Park to Quigley North
at the Chicago/State stop. Clark/Division was the next one, which sometimes
I had to traverse going to basketball practice in gyms that would let us
use them, as our gym, known as the "shoebox", wasn't great for
practicing. But those subway stops were nerve-wracking 47 years ago, too.

I don’t know, Saks carries expensive jewelry and her broach alone was worth 50K.
In the early 80s I was in a high end jewelry store in Houston, Texas looking for a birthday gift for my mother. Two women came in and immediately went to a display of large emeralds. One bought a very large emerald and diamond broach and didn’t even flinch at the price, saying it would go good with the dress she just bought.
Some people never think about being robbed.

This may surprise you, but there are people out there who have expensive jewely and wear it. The late Leona Helmsley and people in her wealth category think nothing of $200k wiorth of bling.

Quakers might be better, as the Amish own guns. I don't know if Quakers do or not.

Are they against gun ownership, even for hunting? I know the Amish people are big on hunting as a food source.

I lived between Reading and Lancaster, Pa. back in the 60s, lots of Amish and the men were hunters, I had no doubt back then that they would use their guns to defend family.
