I wasn’t-someone else reminded me what they are, and they are called something else in SA. Still too much like the old USSR, where kids were “attracted” to the career chosen for them, or else.

I’m very opposed to that, or other limitations of free thought/speech/choices for adults, and choices for kids are to be made by parents, not a school system or anyone else-but I’m an unapologetic rebel, anyway...

“With a speaker like that” Especially if one of her “healthy” meatless lunches of limp fruit and veggies, nutrient-deficit white rice, etc was served in the cafeteria in her honor...

As i understand up here in Pittsburgh the parents have to apply to get their kids in a magnet school. Its not dictated to them.

That is how it should work-and now I’m curious-I’ve got to ask a friend who is a teacher if that is how it is in SA. It has always been possible to move your kid to another school within a district, if you paid a fee, and provided the kid with transportation to and from., but that choice is obviously limited to those who can afford the fee, etc.
