To this day, the Muslims of the world lament the loss of Andalus, the Arabic name for their Spanish Kingdom. While every Muslim knows what a mortal blow the loss of Spain was, few in the West are aware that even after the fall of Granada, the Spanish were not so easily rid of Islam.

Response: Please note this expulsion was done on a much lower economic base compared today's base. The various expulsions over history are a reflection of underlying social and political will. As a great historian stated in 1888-"All great people are exclusive." By this expulsion Spain embarked upon its period of greatness.
Where did the Moors come from again? North Africa? And they ended up with a kingdom in Spain?
I guess no one musta lived there when the Moors crossed the straits.

Musa responded by sending the young general Tariq bin Ziyad with an army of 7000 troops. The name Gibraltar is derived from Jabal At-Tariq which is Arabic for ‘Rock of Tariq’ named after the place where the Muslim army landed.
