Police are looking for two more suspects involved in the shooting.
A Pompano Beach man was arrested on homicide charges after he pocket-dialed 9-1-1 while talking to someone about his murder plans, police said.
Scott Simon, 24, was arrested Tuesday for the fatal May 5th shooting that left southbound lanes of I-95 closed for three hours in Oakland Park, according to a news release from the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Simon can be heard on the recorded line saying he was going to follow 33-year-old victim Nicholas Romondo Walker home and kill him, police said. Minutes after the call, Walker was shot and killed while driving his car onto the highway.
Authorities do not believe that Simon was the shooter, but that he coordinated the killing after getting into an argument with Walker at a nearby Waffle House.
When deputies arrived on scene, Walker's silver Buick had crashed into a guard rail on I-95 near Commercial Boulevard. He had already died of gunshot wounds by the time authorities put out a fire that had started in the engine compartment.
Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying two other suspects they believe were involved in the shooting. They are looking for two men who were in a black 2012 Buick GS in the early-morning hours of May 5th.
Anyone that may have seen the two men is urged to call Det. Bryan Tutler at (954) 321-4281 or report anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
That is a literal account of the song “Murder By Numbers” by the Police. Sting should sue.
What a strange term for ‘butt dial’
Life is cheap
I always thought the reverse.
Pocket dialing? How old is this dude’s phone?
On most phones, all you have to do is press and hold the 9 key to get 911.
True. But most phones automatically lock up now before being inserted into your pocket. Requiring some sort of a code just to unlock it.
Am I GLAD my jobs took me NORTH today!
