FULL TITLE: Pennsylvania judge Mark Ciavarella Jr. has been sentenced to almost three decades in jail after conspiring with private prisons to trade kids for cash.
n the private prison industry, longer sentences earn more money from the state.
Since 2003, Ciavarella received millions of dollars in bribes for condemning minors to maximum prison sentences. In one case, Ciavarella sentenced a 10-year-old to two years in a detention facility for accidentally bottoming out his mothers car.
According to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, over 5,000 young men and women were unjustly sentenced to prison and denied their constitutional rights. Many of them have now been released and cleared of their charges.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has overturned some 4,000 convictions issued by him between 2003 and 2008, claiming he violated the constitutional rights of the juveniles including the right to legal counsel and the right to intelligently enter a plea. Some of the juveniles he sentenced were as young as 10-years old.

I’m sure it will be a positive, welcoming experience for him.
Who was paying the cash? The contractors running the prison system?
Party not identified up front, must be a democrat
We need a few more of these cooked judges serving time.
They should hang the Bastard.
WOW!
I need to stop thinking “I’ve heard everything” you know?
For this monster to get 28 years is a MERCY.
He needs to be hanged. Publicly.
But this:
“Ciaverallas attorneys requested a reasonable sentencing, arguing that the media attention brought to the case was punishment enough: He will forever be unjustly branded as the `Kids for Cash judge.
Angels must weep.
This vile filthy piece of excrement is just now being sentenced ?
This is a pretty old story...
They should hang all involved...
“accidentally bottoming out his mothers car.”
That’s an interesting choice of words.
Another way of saying this might be “stole his mother’s car & wrecked it during a joy ride”.
Death would be too easy for this SOB, let him suffer instead.
Hanging is too good for him. Skin him alive, roll him in salt and then strap him on a hill of fire ants!
Think about some kid being sent away and having their entire life altered. This bastard wants leniency?
He deserves a longer sentence. This guy gave my SO a ticket for “speeding”. Supposedly doing 70 in a 40. My SO drives like a Sunday Driver, so that was bunk. What he did to those kids makes our ticket look like a joke, though.
