Ernest Moniz, Barack Obama’s new Secretary of Energy, is making it clear there is no room for dissent regarding climate change. Speaking to his department’s employees after he was sworn in, Moniz said, “Let me make it very clear that there is no ambiguity in terms of the scientific basis calling for a prudent response on climate change. I am not interested in debating what is not debatable. There is plenty to debate as we try and move forward on our climate agenda.”

Fixed it.

Sorry, but both warming and this goon’s IQ are very debatable.

As least, it is to those of us who actually know physics.

It would be interesting to investigate whether this constitutes an establishment of religion under the Constitution.

Truly part of the scientific method.

Didn't Obama read this in his New York Times?

The world leaders who met at the United Nations to discuss climate change on Tuesday are faced with an intricate challenge: building momentum for an international climate treaty at a time when global temperatures have been relatively stable for a decade and may even drop in the next few years.

Uh-Roh!

Not debating and not debatable are two different things, like sun spots and frog farts.

ANY scientist who declares anything unarguable forfeits the right to be a scientist. This guy would have been at the forefront of the Flat Earth thinking 500 years ago.

To say that anything in science, other than the laws of thermal dynamics or gravity, is not debatable is not a scientific statement. Science asks questions. That’s what it does. To have absolute empirical evidence that climate change exists and is caused by human activity (which is the real question), would require a separate earth to use as a model to which our earth could be compared.

Climate is changing and has been since the beginning. 800 years ago the Norsemen raised sheep on Greenland. 1975 "Oh No" global cooling. Today scientist can't figure out why no warming for 15 years, Alaska can't figure out what happened to spring. Today it is 58° and raining in Hell, Michigan.

He was confirmed by the Senate on a 97 to 0 vote. Apparently the Senate Republicans thought he was a fine nominee. Here are some quotes:

Lisa Murkowski Republican of Alaska, “. . . he is an impressive nominee.”

Mitch McConnell Republican of Kentucky, “A number of my colleagues and I are optimistic about Dr. Moniz’s pragmatic approach to solving the country’s energy challenges,. . .”

Lindsay Graham Republican of South Carolina, “I think he’ll be a good secretary.”
