Deputies with the George County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man accused of setting his dog on fire, Sheriff Dean Howell said.
Brandon Pierce, 20, was arrested Tuesday on an animal cruelty charge after officers found his dog doused with a flammable liquid and burning.
Pierce said he "wanted to help the dog go to heaven" and he was acting erratically, Howell said.
The dog survived the burning and was transported to the George County Animal Hospital. Animal hospital officials say the dog may lose eyesight due to the burns and could possibly lose a front leg. The tip of its nose was also burned off.

Actually, he does look very loopy, completely out to lunch. Never mind the comments he made.

I don’t care what breed a dog (or cat, or other animal) is: The fact that Mankind is a Steward of the Earth and all its inhabitants, should be enough to bitch-slap this guy into the next Universe.

Me, too, Onyx. He’s bound to do some time as it is. At least the drugs will get out of his system, because I have no doubt he’s likely on speed or something to become so deranged.
After I posted this yesterday, the poor dog died of his injuries, so this story has an update that was carried in today’s paper.

Poor dog. The legal consequences of being cruel to an animal are not nearly strong enough. In this case, and eye for an eye seems fair.

Thank you. Poor little thing. I could murder that man with my own hands. I love dogs above all other creatures (barring humans of course), have 5 of my own. I would have taken him. I hope they were able to ease his suffering. He’s in the shelter of God’s hand now, and no evil human can ever hurt him or make him unhappy for eternity.
