just out of curiosity where do you think the electricity comes from to charge these things
They don’t need you as a customer to be a success.
Plenty are chomping at bit to pay that much for a car ....even much more. Mercedes S class, BMW 7 series, Lexus LS, Audi A8 etc etc etc,
In five years they will have a $40k car.
In ten years they will have a $25K car.
Right in the heart of the market.
Not that I care.
For me its all about performance, features, and cost of ownership, the environment isn't even a factor.
If you go to their website and use their true cost of ownership calculator you will see that the model S is actually a pretty good deal financially (assuming you were already in the market for a $50,000+ auto. I currently pay about $750/mo for my high end SUV, so for me switching to a model S would actually save me money. The big decision is whether I can do without the flexibility the SUV affords me.
To each their own I guess.

going from an SUV to the Tesla will be more than a little bit cramping in terms of interior space
For a $100K, there’s probably a dozen manufacturers from whom you could get a vehicle with 4.something 0-60 times.
