Sure, the Marlins may be 22 games below .500 after the first 48 games of the season, but they only need to win 62% of their remaining games to end up with a winning season.
Here is another stat. Not including last night (I haven't checked that one yet) Cabrera was walked five times in the previous four games. Every time he walked the next guy up, Prince Fielder, drove in a run.
I was marveling at how potent this offense is, and the fact that it is not really even jelling yet. Jackson is on the DL and Leyland has had to juggle his lineup around that fact. Victor Martinez has yet to find his stroke. Alex Avila is way below the Mendoza line. Just wait.
Get Jackson back in the lead off position, Martinez swinging the bat and Avila back to where he should be and they’ll be scary. It helps that guys like Don Kelly are producing.
As a Seattle Mariners fan, I feel your pain. We are now in a 7 game losing streak. We have two of the best pitchers in baseball (Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma); but, no offense to speak of. And, even their defensive play (which used to be one of their few strengths) is beginning to suffer.
Not to worry. As long as the Minnesota Twins keep playing, the Marlins will not have the worst record in baseball at the end of the season.
Gonna be hard to beat the Astros to the bottom. 14-34 (.292)
Not good. If there’s a man on base and you walk Cabrera with Fielder up next, you’re looking right at a three-run homer.
Miggy has an astronomical batting average with men in scoring position.
...don't mean a thing, if they don't get that ring...
Jim Leland’s team....
Good Eye .... study his posture at the plate, gets both peripheral and focused vision coordinated ...
Timing is everything

I agree. His timing and balance is never out of whack. He really is one of the great hitters we’ve seen in a long, long time. Very underrated. I laughed at the media trying to give the mvp to Trout last year. Seriously?
