Don’t worry about it - lots of folks here cannot help but try showing how smart they are. It’s unbecoming.

Here, I'll help you out.

Here is the same effect, and it is no 'trick'.

The Pistol Shrimp.

These guys have been doing the same thing for millions of years.

THE PISTOL SHRIMP (from Wikipedia)

The snap can also produce sonoluminescence from the collapsing cavitation bubble. As it collapses, the cavitation bubble reaches temperatures of over 5,000 K (4,700 °C).[15] In comparison, the surface temperature of the sun is estimated to be around 5,800 K (5,500 °C). The light is of lower intensity than the light produced by typical sonoluminescence and is not visible to the naked eye. It is most likely a by-product of the shock wave with no biological significance. However, it was the first known instance of an animal producing light by this effect. It has subsequently been discovered that another group of crustaceans, the mantis shrimp, contains species whose club-like forelimbs can strike so quickly and with such force as to induce sonoluminescent cavitation bubbles upon impact.[16]

i agree with it for a millisecond at a time, but if it is hotter than the sun, and sustained, how does it NOT boil the water in the vessel???

that was my question since the original video showed it as an ongoing event being stared at

also i would expect it to be white light rather than blue

but i'm no physicist...

Very interesting. Thanks for the post. More on Sonoluminescence soon.pdf.

Maybe it eventually would. It might take a while to boil that much water. Maybe the energy generated is not enough to boil that much water. I am as clueless as you are my friend.

Here is another creature that uses the SONIC FUSION BLAST (my term, and probably incorrect)

Somebody doesn't quite understand what is going on. The luminescence comes from the collapsing bubble but the sound wave is creating the bubbles, not collapsing them. The bubble formation is due to the negative pressure at the minimums in the sound wave cancelling the atmospheric pressure, thus causing holes, or bubbles, to be formed. This cavitation process can cause a lot of erosion of nearby objects.

IIRC Putterman’s group (and a few others) thought they had seen excess neutrons (the kind that indicate D-T fusion reaction is occurring), but they could never conclusively prove it was not coming from the natural background or calibration sources.

According to the Wikipedia:

In February 2005 the documentary series Horizon commissioned two leading sonoluminescence researchers, Seth Putterman[9] and Kenneth S. Suslick, to reproduce [Rusi] Taleyarkhan's work. Using similar acoustic parameters, deuterated acetone, similar bubble nucleation, and a much more sophisticated neutron detection device, the researchers could find no evidence of a fusion reaction.[10][11]

Subsequently, Taleyarkhan was sanctioned for scientific fraud in connection with his bubble fusion "results".

Don’t apologize. You have to think outside the box, er bubble.

Wow. I regret posting this.

I went to the link given under your WIMP vid and found more info at Seth Putterman's website:

Good info - thanks.

I am guessing that the Casimir Effect is in play, as the deutirium ions are splayed out on the crystal matrix and held close but not against each other, such that the Casimir effect loads the crystal matrix with a torsion energy build up.

Don’t be. It’s the nature of luddites to be dragged kicking and screaming and cursing into the future. It’s been so since the first luddite heard about the wheel thousands of years ago and scoffed, “What the eff can you do with it except roll it down a hill???”

Don;t regret sharing new stuff. In our near future energy production will be flowing from such innovations. Then the bubbas will be glad to have the power to their beer coolers and forget all about how they poo pooed the things they don’t comprehend.

Waay Cool! So cool I'll try it today.

I'll put a sealed bottle-jar of water with a bubble in it in front of my 100 Watt Fender Amp and turn the Vol to 10, and other controls set for extreme sustain. Then I'll play the high E note (1st string/12th fret) on my Fender HH Strat w/ the 5 way switch at 1st position, the Vol knob on 10, and Tone Knobs at Max Treble.

I'll create my own Super Nova -- and Fusion!

I just hope I do it right and avoid making a Black Hole instead. With anyhing near it getting sucked passed the Event Horizon due to a loose lid, and growing as it feeds. That would really tick off the neighbors, not to mention the wife

But you know. Maybe this is where all those Missing Socks go? Down to a Singularity in the Washer -- and Dryers getting the bad rap. After all there's a; Sealed Liquid, Bubbles, and Sound Waves. Hmmm...
